Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W5 Digital Camera

Downloading to computer

When I download my pictures to my computer some get distorted or shaded light or some seem double exposed. On my old Dell Windows XP this did not happen. Now I am using a Compac Windows Vista computer.
I download pictures to my pictures and they go to Picasa also and the pictures in My Pictures, that are bad, are the same ones in Picasa. I f I print from camera pics are fine. If I print the distorted picture from My pictures, on the computer, it prints out distorted. Please help me.
Thank you,
Sharon G.

I have a similar situation. A picture will be fine on my camera, but about 5% of the time the image downloaded to my computer is distorted. The color will be correct at the top, but an off shade at the bottom. The perecentage of "good" and "bad" is random. Can anybody help?

Sounds like a Vista or Picasso problem. Suggest you use explorer to copy photos directly from camera to a folder on your computer, then look at them and see if they are OK, if so, it is a Picasso problem. If the same, is likely a Vista problem. If still in doubt. Take memory stick to a photo lab and load on their system and see what you get.

Pictures can be downloaded over and over again. Have you looked anywhere else? How about in the "my pictures" folder? When you connect your camera to the computer, does it automatically connect to Photo Gallery or does it now just appear as a removable drive in "my computer"? If that's the case, all you have to do is double-click on that and your picture files will appear. You can create a folder on your desktop, select all the pictures and drag and drop them in the folder. From there, you can send them to Photo Gallery.

Whenever I'll take a picture specially in outdoor enviroment, when I download the to my computer it seems the picture has so much light appearance. It's seems picture is over expose for the light...

It may be that you have inadvertently set your camera to shoot 'bracketing up' - ie over exposing for every shot. You need to look at the exposure ruler which looks something like this: l---l---l---l---l The centre bar is the correct exposure. But there is a little block that sits where you have got your +/- setting at. +/- is the sign for BRACKETING - where you tell the camera to over expose (+) or under expose (-). With Canon if the little block is to the right of the centre bar then you are telling the camera to over expose. Where is your little block? If it is to the right of the centre press your +/- button and turn the dial to the centre bar. NOTE: As digital cameras are WEAK in capturing highlights it is often better to shoot slightly under exposed - with your block set on the first or second horizontal line to the left of the centre bar. This means you are shooting 1/3 or 2/3 of an f/stop under exposed. Hope this helps.

When downloading from HP PHOTOMART M425V TO COMPUTER, I get a download error and the download always stops at picture 38. How can I get the remaining pictures to download?

Buy and use a card reader. A card reader does not need software, or the camera, nor any drivers for most of the new OS's.
A possible thing could be that that picture is corrupted.
If you can see the whole picture with no distortion, then it should be a good picture.

How can I download pictures that were already downloaded from my Canon EOS XSI? My husband used the wrong cord and all were distorted so I erased the pictures off the computer. I just need to download it...

On most DSLR cameras, you have the option to delete all photos after uploading them to your computer. Unfortunately, that is a default choice. Chances are that was selected and thus the photos were erased from your memory card. In the future, deselected that option and you will retain the images on your camera.

Pictures have distorted coloration

This has happened with a few cameras that I have had in for repair and removing the optical sensor ribbon from its socket and then fitting it back in has worked about 80% of the time.

Can't download pictures!

The problem might be the computer is not communicating with the software program. You can try to use another software from a photo smart or kodak easy share.

The easiest way also go to a store get your pictures on a CD, then download from the CD to the computer.

Take care

Transfer from XTI camera to PC

Seems to be a common problem with the XTi. Some say it's designed to underexpose to avoid washing out the bright parts of scene. Personally I found it a pita. I had to PhotoShop each shot.So I sent it back to the repair facility. They re-calibrated it. Now it works fine.
