There are no cables and no thumbscrews that I can find on this machine. There is no external processor. Everything is self contained. I only have one paper tray which is letter size. The override tray is closed but also set at letter size. Problem still exists.

  • tay26132 Sep 20, 2008

Can someone please tell me what a "Paper Cover" is? Should I be looking at the scanning mechanism or the paper tray mechanism. I personally would not refer to either one as a "Paper Cover".

  • tay26132 Sep 20, 2008

    That did not help either

  • tay26132 Sep 20, 2008

I have manually depressed the Paper tray seonsors (both of them) and also the paper tray bypass chute paper sensor. The problem still exists.

  • tay26132 Sep 20, 2008

I have check for paper jams, cleaned all the rollers with air and Rubbing alcohol and I have blown the machine out. I still have the same error.

I have located the switch to replace. Thank you

When the toner supply runs low, the fax saves the remainder of
the document into the memory. You can set the fax to continue
printing even after the toner runs low during printing. (

PRINT IN ORDER Set the order of printing.
OFF Arrange received document pages in reverse order.
ON Arrange received document pages in the order they were sent.
Printing does not start until all pages are received.
5.SELECT DENSITY Adjust the print density of documents you receive. LT (Light), STD
(Standard), DK (Dark)
6.TONER SUPPLY LOW Set the fax to continue printing even after toner runs low and the
CHANGE CARTRIDGE indicator lights and the REPLACE
CARTRIDGE message appears.
RX TO MEMORY Stop printing and receive the remainder of the document in the
memory.
KEEP PRINTING Ignore the warning and keep printing until the document is
completely printed.

Hi,

Have you check the Device manager?

Please can you do reinstall the printer with the installation CD.

If your printer is a USB printer then do the following:
First of all please remove the USB Cable from your PC completely.
Restart your PC without connecting USB cable back to your PC.
When PC boot up properly then fist install Software or drivers for your USB device (Wireless Mouse or any other USB device).
After doing the installation or updation if it asks for Restart then go ahead and REBOOT your PC else close all the running programs and ShutDown your PC manually.
Now connect the USB Cable into the USB Jack from both ends and start your PC.
Your PC will automatically accept this USB Hardware driver.
After doing above steps please reboot your PC finally and let us know the result.

Thank you very much for being so co-operative and patient, which I appreciate most. And dont forget to Ranking me.

It could be an issue of Paper Jam as well. Remove all the papers and thoroughly clean the paper pickup rollers and the feed rollers.
Another cause may be that the paper cassette tray is worn and may need attention to areas where the paper catches and sometimes the tray needs to be replaced.

Hi,

The error message "Check Paper Cover" of course would refer to the cover being left open or incorrectly closed or the machine is erroneously sensing that it is open. This is often a hardware problem, specifically the switch that is triggered by the paper cover.

Initially, pls visually check the paper cover and determine how it triggers the switches. A generic method would be a tab that fits into a small hole/slot where the switch is hidden/located. In some other instances, it could be a small button. You may want to exercise the switch or button by repetitively pushing/trigerring it in the hope that it is just a glitch. If it were a mechanical misalignment, then the unit has to be opened up.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

There is a cable that runs from the scanner to the processor. Looking from the front, its on the left side of the machine, on the back, it is a fairly large connector.
Unscrew the two thumb screws, then unplug it and plug it back in with the machine ON.
It will force it into a reset and may boot.

The problem is caused by a software glitch .

Check the tray settings and ensure that paper size guides are set to the appropriate paper size, then power off/power on the machine.

Jammed paper

There are 3 places to check for jammed paper.

Turn off the fax machine, then remove the tray and open the back cover, and open the front cover to remove the drum and toner (cartridge) and look inside machine.

After you find the jammed paper put the cartridge and tray back in machine and close all the covers.

Error message should go away.

Can you look into the paper tray and actually see if the feed rolls are turning? You may have either a bad paper feed clutch, or the solonoid that releases the feed rollers is bad.
Also the paper tray should move up and down when the paper feeds to move the paper against the rollers. Up to feed down to eliminate paper drag. One of those fingers that raise the tray may be binding against the bottom of the tray not allowing proper movement.
If you can get a flash light and observe what is going on. Then let me know.

Check cover/cart

Two possible solutions remove the top cover (Two screws on top after oepening the cartridge door and two push in black nylon screws in either side). and check the activation lever that activates the cover switch is not riding on top of the switch. Second if this happened your toner cartridge make sure this new cartridge is the correct one for the fax and not a HP modified recycled printer cartridge.
