I have a Jenn Air side by side fridge. The ice maker door seems to have a tight spring or something because when the ice goes in the chute and then backs up. It seems like the ice isn't strong enough to open the door.

The answers gave me the confidence to have a look and on mine the arm had come out of the catch the other end from the solenoid.I just had to push it back in. So grateful thank you very much. It's not been working for about 18 months and I couldn't afford to pay someone for something that was just a luxury. A BIG THANK YOU!!
Good day, You'll need to isolate the problem. Shut the water off to the machine to eliminate the ice maker as an issue. Clean up any mess left over and restart the machine with the ice maker set to the off position. Run for a few days to test the quality of the cooling capacity of the machine. If it tests O.K. then the ice maker situation can be addressed.
Maybe excessive water dripping from the ice maker that cause the door to "lock-up" a bit. May need to adjust the water flow to ice maker. If that doesn't work, maybe the tempt is set above recommended level and causing the door to stick.
the plastic arms that move the flapper door open and closed are broken. I had this happen to me some months back. You will need to buy a repair kit from your local dealer. Explain what is broken and they can look up their part/kit number. You can't buy just the plastic door. Mine cost about $30 but was worth the price of getting my ice maker dispenser operating again. Very minor mechanics required to open this portion of the mechanism. Mostly some removal of screws and a spring or two. Good luck.
hi thanks for the question the freezer is more than likely frosted up now with the door left open the drain hose from freezer is clogged shut down let thaw remove panel at the back of fridge allow 24 hrs to thaw clean out the drain tube re level the fridge so that if the door is left open the door will close by its self raise the front legs to achieve this thanks the appliance doc
the ice maker controls the seloniod the icemaker wire arm must be all the way down .just because the seloniod test good doesnt mean the valve seat isnt stuck the water valves open by your house water pressure if your filter is dirty this can also lower the pressure if the icemaker module is bad this also can cause it if you pull the front of the ice-maker off you will se a bunch of holes if you get a piece of 10 Gage house strip about 1/4 inch off either side and insert it into the holes marked t and h that will test cycle the ice maker they will be close togetherdon't get shocked if the ice maker cycles and doesnt fill and the ice maker fill tube isn't frozen replace the water valve if the ice-makerdoesn't cycle replace the brown motor module
