Question about Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 (68C-00001) Webcam

1 Answer

White screen. Hi, i have a problem with my Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 Webcam. I have installed the software from CD and plugged my webcam. And it doesn't work properly. Audio is fine, LED is fine, but all I see as video capture is a white screen. Sometimes a blue strip appears on the left side of it. I've tried to fix it, but anything what I've tried doesn't work. I've tried to: - reinstall software/driver - update software/driver - replugg in different USB ports - windows updates, drivers for graphic card, direct X etc. Nothing works, always same white screen. What should I do ?

If you are using a usb hub, connect the lifecam directly to one of the usb ports on your computer.

SOURCE: microsoft-lifecam-vx-6000-windows-2003-driver

Since you're running server, I assume you know what this means...

msiexec /qn /i LifCam10.msi TARGETDIR="C:\Program Files\Microsoft LifeCam" SKIPOSCHECK=1 LIFECAMGUID="C1751519BDE8403dB8A46BF319EFD5ED" VERSION="1.10.148.0" REBOOT=ReallySuppress INSTALL64BIT=0

This will install it on Windows 2003.

FYI, I did copy it to my machine and updated some of the MSI with Orca for component checking as well.

Try disconnecting the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.

nnnnnnnnnDO NOT disconnect the camera from the USB port after you have successfully install the camera drivers as it will cause the camera drivers to be corrupt and render the camera unusable.

Then to use it on the Web, do this.

The software version on the disk is usually out of date by the time you come to install it and there have been some problems getting Microsoft's own webcams to run under Vista.

Its better to go to the Microsoft website and download the latest version of the software - http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=ICE

Remeber to download and installthe software first and then plug in the webcam and that should be that!
