I would like to know if there is a way that I can burn the videos from MY Flip device to dvd's through the dvd burner? if not directly, can it be done through the computer?

im not sure on your FLIP device using jvc everio but if it has a dvd burner in its program i dont see why you could'nt burn it to a dvd
you would have to convert your video to a dvd format Any Video Converter is a freeware program you can find it at cnetdownload.com
http://download.cnet.com/%7Bvalue=http://www.download.com/any-video-converter/3000-2194_4-10661456.html Any Video Converter is an all-in-one video converting freeware with easy-to-use graphical interface, fast converting speed, and excellent video quality. It can convert almost all video formats including DivX, XviD, MOV, RM, RMVB, MPEG, VOB, DVD, WMV, and AVI to MPEG-4 movie format for PSP or other portable video device, MP4 player, or smartphones. It is the freeware to convert video files between multiple formats and download YouTube videos

you must connect the device to the computer once its connected you will be able to see it in my computer click start right click on my computer select open you should see your FLIP device open it you should be able see your video file.
then open up your burning program depending on which burning program you have you can select either dvd or cd to burn an iso or make a cd/dvd movie once you have made your choice a browser should open navigate to your flip device video select it ((will depend on which burning program you have)) add to you could a graph oh how many mbs have been used once it loads select burn
hope this helps

A dvd+r disk I burnt using Nero7 will not play on my dvd player (the extention file of burnt file is .flv

Try converting the file first. Many converters are avaiable online. Assure that it can take FLV (Flash based files) and export as MPEG (or DVD standard) to maximize compatibility.

Found this in a search quickly:
AVS Video Converter is an all-in-one multimedia program for capturing, converting, editing, converting, transferring, burning DVD and movie files. It can convert FLV files to DVD, burn FLV to DVD, as well as convert FLV to all popular video file formats, and even extract MP3/WAV audio from FLV. Supports Youtube, Flash, Google FLV video files.

Good luck
