Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

My television volume will automatically go up and down without using the remote or the buttons on the television. The television will automatically turn it self on when the set has been turned off. I removed the batteries from the remote control, and the problem still exist. The red infrared light will flash constantly.

I had this problem once. unplug the TV and place it on the floor with its face down. Make sure you put it somewhere where it wont get stepped on. And let it be like that for a day or more. This happend on my old tube tv, not sure what type of tv you have.

The problem started initially with the remote control not working. When I turn the TV on at the control panel the volume is all the way up. When I turn it down and let go of the volume button it...

Check the volume up button. It is either just stuck or defective, causing a constant stream of data to be sent to the microprocessor. You remote isn't recognized because the data line is continuously active.

How do you reset the timer on the lamp without a PIP button on the remote

Howdy,
To reset your Panasonic Lamp Time:
ø Press and hold these buttons for (at least) 5 seconds:
ø Volume Down button (on TV Panel).
ø AND ACTION Button (on remote).

As the remote gets older the ACTION button may not respond unless you press the button dead center and not at an angle.

Thanks for using FIXYA, BIG IRISH.

Volume automatic decreases. Have no control of volume

Ensure nothing sticky has been spilled on the TV or the remote, causing the volume down button to stick. Remove batteries from remote to rule it out. Carefully inspect TV volume control for a sticking button. If you find it is sticking, get electrical contact cleaner from Radio Shack and spray the button. Ensure TV is unplugged first.

The volume goes down ,then it cycles automatically through channels

sounds like your volume down on set is stuck in down postion... press it to see... listen for faint clicking noise that means its ok... and your problem could be remote button stuck... any button on set or last Microprocessor went bad.

I have a philips Matchline tv (29pt6361/79r) the tv works fine except it automatically turns the volume down without any buttons on the remote or tv being pushed

well depends on how far it turns the volume down as to what the cause is and if the volume bar on screen display comes on when the vol. goes down. if it just goes down a little you probably have the "smart sound" setting turned on in the audio menu turn it off and see if prob. goes away. if the vol. bar comes on the screen whenever the vol. goes down the you most likely have a bad button on your front panel and it doesn't have to be the vol. down button. it you think it is the button it would need solder work to be changed most likely shop job.

Tv turns on manually, but auto flips through channels and you can't use remote

Found this in another forum (www.hometheaterspot.com) and it fixed my remote problem:

"...it's possible that one of the front panel buttons is "stuck" or shorted, and this could cause the TV to ignore commands from the front panel or remote. But this should also cause the Power command to be ignored, too. You might try pulling off the front panel and disconnecting the front panel buttons and then see if the remote works."
