Question about Vivitar (1607225) Telescope

2 Answers

Washed out when I look through my new Vivitar telescope everything I see seems to be washed out - as though there's too much light. I tried it during the day and looked at a tree - and a house - no help. Can you help? Joan joanelloyd@att.net

I have purchased 60x/120xRefractor Telescope with tripod vivitar series 1/ we see nothing out of it at all what has happened

Take the scope outside during the day time. Remove the lens cap-- put the diagonal into the focuser at the rear of the scope. Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the diagonal. DO NOT use the 2x barlow-- practice focusing on a distant object during the day time.

The moon should be your first target at night.

You never said what was wrong with it??? Can you see a distant object during the day time? If you can nothing is wrong with the scope. Read my tips on my profile page.

Put the diagonal in the scope first and then put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the diagonal. TURN THE FOCUS KNOB to focus the telescope. Practice during the day time on a distant object.

Just assembled 76700 Model Vivitar Telescope, not getting an image through the viewer.

Put the diagonal into the focuser and then put the eyepiece that has the largest number written on it into the diagonal. DO NOT USE the 2 x barlow if you have one. Take the lens cap off!

Practice focusing on a distant object during the day time by slowly turning the focuser knob right and or left until you get a sharp image.

Telescope is definitely assembled correct but fail to see any magnification of light thru tube with use of either lens. Very clear nite but little moonlight, does that matter? Seems we get no magnification...

Did you try this during the day time. Stars are always just points of light no matter what telescope you use.

Try for the moon and or Jupiter which is up in the sky right now after dark. It looks like a BRIGHT star.

I need a new manual for my vivitar ifst 70076

You will not find a manual for these small telescopes.

This is a small refractor telescope-- they pretty much all work the same-- BUT don't expect to get more than 100 power out of the scope. Yes I know the box said 600 power but it's a lie. In my 8 inch telescope I rarely get above 250 power and my scope is many times larger than the one you have--

Now put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the telescope-- the LARGER the number the LOWER the magnification. During the day time practice focusing on a distant object --- AND line-up the small finder scope on top with the main telescope tube. Look at the top of a distant light or church steeple, or telephone2_bing.gif pole. Without moving the telescope adjust the small finder scope by loosening and tightening the screws around the tube holding the finder scope-- put the crosshairs on the same spot as the main telescope.

Now you can use the small finder to locate objects in the sky-- the moon should be your first night time target.

I can't seem to see a darn thing , the lens cap is removed and lenses installed but i couldn't see anything last night

Telescopes have a VERY small field of view. You must be pointed directly at the object. Why not practice focusing during the day time on a distant object, and then try for a large target like the moon at night.

I got a crappy vivitar telescope i cant see

First you bought a department store telescope-- not good. Buy telescopes from telescope retailers like Orion, or OPT Corporation.

Try this-- during the daytime put the lowest magnification eyepiece in the telescope. I(t will be the one with the Largest NUMBER written on it. Then practice focusing on a distant object in day light.
