Question about HP Pavilion ze2000 Notebook
The wireless button sometimes does not come on when computer is powered on not sure why this happens? any suggestions
Have you checked the Device Manager to see if there is an indication of an issue with the wireless card? When the wireless light does not come on, do you actually have connection? Assuming that there is not a connection when this occurs, I would suggest first checking the device manager to see if there are issues or warnings noted. If so, then I would make two recommendations.
First, go to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=420361 (this is for XP) to ensure that you have the proper / latest drivers and utilities installed. If not, installing could resolve the issue.
If this does not solve the issue, you can try an online chat with HP to see if they can help you. There is a "Contact HP" link at the bottom of the page, which will lead you to a link for an online chat. They should be able to make certain that you are walked through any and all troubleshooting resources they have not made public.
Finally, and unfortunately most likely, you will need to follow the manual's guidelines in re checking the connection (which means taking the bottom off of the machine to look) and potentially replacing the wireless card. I have a very similar laptop and my wireless quit working after about 6 months. The good news here is that it is not that difficult to replace, and the cost of the cards is significantly lower than it was when we purchased our machines!
If this information assists you in resolving the problem, please take a moment to rate the solution at a "FixYa" level. If you do not feel that you can rate at a "FixYa", please post back with more information regarding what has occurred subsequently and/or more details regarding the situation, and I will gladly help you until we have reached a definitive solution. Thank you for using and rating FixYa!
