You can see a hole located on the tray of the cd rom drive. Commonly seen beside the button to eject the cd out. Grab a small pin and push the hole and this should eject the tray. Close the tray again by pressing the button. Eject it using the button. If everything still failed, call up Dell to have the CD Rom Drive replaced.

Dvd wont play

Just any DVD disc or particular DVD (home made one). Check if you can still play music CD. Need to determine if the issue is physical drive or software. Try burning a movie to the DVD drive. Does it work?
Then try burning a CD. Does it work? If it doesn't, then

you could have a dirty (dust) laser...This requires opening and cleaning (with q-tips).

I can't open my dvd-drive. I've tried to pull a stick into the little whole at the drive but nothing happened. I've also tried to press computer --> dvd-drive right-click and press eject, but...

If you have put a pin in the little hole next to the open button, and tried to right click your drive and eject that way, the motor may have burned out. Its not uncommon for this to happen. Overuse or abuse can cause this. You can get this fixed a few ways. Take it into a repair shop and have them replace the motor. Or get an external DVD/CD drive. On average they go for around $60 for a decent one.

Cannot play cd/dvd's computer sees device but wont play. Try's to read a few times then nothing.

it sounds like you need a new dvd rom,
the drive that shows up in my computer can still be seen,
as you click on it , try to notice the sound of the rom,
sometimes you can use rubbing alcohol on the eye, or a cd cleaner can get it back

The cd burner on my hp laptop doesn't work properly.

There could be are various reason's for there.

1. The CD you insert is not blank or re-writetable
2. The CD is blank but its not the correct format (CD, DVD)
3. And worse case is the CD Drive is not a burner.

Hope this helps.

uninstall the cd device in device manager then reinstall, but, instead of asking the pc to do it automatically tell the pc to search the internet for the drivers
