Question about Acer Computers & Internet

Acer X243w monitor as a TV Pic great but "not supported" box

So my TV broke and I though till I got another, I'd use the monitor as a TV. Trial and error got me to:

HDMI out of cable box to DVI-D in on monitor
monitor set to 1920X1080
Monitor is DDC/CI

SO the pic looks awesome, flawless, EXCEPT.. a gray box moving around saying "input not supported". So why does it look so good if not supported? Just to annoy me? Is there some way to get rid of the box? The pic is excellent.

Actually the box appears with all the resolutions that I have an option for,  12. Not sure on what it is displaying, but the pic is different with each resolution. The pic I though was perfect, but there is occasionally, some, or most of the time either small lines or blurriness in the bottom of the screen. I didn't even notice it until a water scene came up. So somthing must be slightly off...

I have the exact same issue. Except my HD cable box has DVI out. Picture looks great as you say, save for the few rows of pixelation along the bottom. I have the monitor hooked up to the box through DVI and my computer through VGA. I can switch from the computer to the box but not back. Once the dreaded "Input Not Supported" message starts floating around I lose control of the monitor completely. I can't access the menus or anything. How did you "set" the monitor to 1920x1080? Have you had any luck since you posted?

I could live with the blurry row along the bottom but not the stupid box.

My assumtion is that the monitor is not displaying in 1920x1080 but has defaulted to a resolution that it can handle so as to display something. Step down the resolutions on the monitor until the gray box disappears. If you're satisfied with the picture your watching then hopefully you will be happy when you find the resolution the monitor is actually displaying.
Good luck!

I think the message may be pointing out the problem. It is very possible that the input to the monitor is not compatible. The monitor may run better on the lower resolutions but I realize yo won't get that crisp ppicture.

Connect my Acer monitor to my digital cable box.

Not sure what your cable box outputs but connect your cable box to a tv and try changing the resolution of your cable box to 1600x900 or less if there is such a setting; the monitor will not display resolutions higher than 1600x900

I now have a broken panel thxs mto my grandson. anyone have a service manuel w/ parts list? on acer model x243w version x23w/ sd

That 24" LCD panel will cost you maore than the monitor is worth, you will have to take it apart and look at the sticker for the model number of the LCD panel since same model can have different make and model number installed, then go on EBAY or try WWW.LCDscreen.COM.

I have an acer al2002w monitor that i bought at a pawn shop. It has a small blue box in the middle of the screen with the words "out of range" in the middle of the screen that I can't get rid...

You need to set the PC video resolution to the native resolution of this monitor (1680x1050 @60Hz), right now it is too high.

I have tried all option on the Acer screen so the

The resolution is done at the PC video output setting, not at the monitor, you should set the PC video resolution to be at monitor native resolution: 1920 X 1200 @60Hz This will give the correct aspect ratio of your display.

Samsung t240 monitor lost pic

This problem with the T240 (t240M or T240 HD depending on the coutry) monitor on Windows 7 and maybe on Vista
is due to Samsung´s driver witch is not updated to Win 7. You will have to lower your video
resolution to 1600X1024 (higher resolution accepted) be able to use your monitor. Unfortunately it will not work on Full HD mode on Win 7,
until Samsung releases an updated driver for win7.
I had the exact same problem here and found this information together with the samsung people.
As yet they have no idea when the needed update will be available. Hope soon, till then no Full HD resolution for us.
Cheers from Brazil

Connecting dvi cable straight to acer monitor

The cable box is probably outputting a resolution the monitor is not compatible with. Computer monitor and television resolutions are usually different, and not cross compatible in some cases.

For example, wide screen monitors are usually 16:10 aspect ratio, while TV is usually 16:9 aspect.

The AL2216wbd is a 1680x1050 display, while HD TV is either 720p (1280x720) or 1080i (1920x1080).

If your cable box is set to 1080i that would be too high for the monitor. You will need to set it to output at 720p, and even then you will probably get a vertically stretched picture since the monitor has a taller aspect.
