Is uPNP disabled/enabled by default

Universal Plug n Play is generally disable by default and will need to be enabled by typing your Router's Gateway into your browser.

Every router has different methods of logging in so you'll need to refer to your documentation and find out what your Username/Pass is by default.

To get your Default Gateway:
1)Start -> Run -> Type cmd ->
A box will pop up, type ipconfig

2) Look for Default Gateway. This is the address you type into your web address bar just like you would type in a regular website.

3) Navigate to your System Settings. Look for the following key words: Advanced, Network, UPnP settings, etc.

4) Check the box to enable. You can leave the default settings regarding the advertising period if you're not familiar with it.

5) Hit Save Settings/Apply. Your router may need to reboot.

6) Reboot all systems connected to your router to make sure they all have the fresh settings.

If you need more help please respond with the router's full model number and I'll happily give you step by step instructions on how to configure UPnP.

I can't open my thomson gateway

What's the error message?Have you tried to go to the exact modem page?
1. open internet explorer2. type the numbers 192.168.1.254 on the address bar then press enter3. you will be routed to thomson page settings if you received any message stating error like can not display page then you need to check if the cables are properly connected.4. if still can not connect, go to the start menu icon5. select the run icon or search bar6. type cmd then press enter7. you should received a black screen8. from the black screen type ipconfig then press enter9. you should received the info like IP ADDRESS, SUBNET MASK and DEFAULT GATEWAY.10. copy the default gateway and type it in the address bar of your internet explorer then press enter11. if you have not received these information (ip address, subnet mask and default gateway) on the black screen after typing the ipconfig then check the error "media state disconnected" which means that your pc and your thompson is not communicating, here you need to try different network cable to isolate issues for the problem might be the cable, network cable port at the back of your pc or the network cable port at the back of the thomson.

I have a belkin g router. I am able to connect hard wire but not wirelessly. Not sure if i am missing a step. I tried rebooting the router and reinstalling it......no luck.

were you able to connect to that router before? If not then do the manual checking of wireless settings, get you default gateway ..how? http://www.ehow.com/how_2091470_computer-ip-address-windows.html instead of looking for Ip address .. look for default gateway it should be after subnetmask or if you havent change any settings on your router if the default gateway should be :192.168.2.1 -then open any of your browser like internet explorer or Firefox and type in the default gateway in the address bar (make sure during these steps your computer is currently connected to the router hardwired) -Do the wireless settings, here's how: http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3774/related/1/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xMzA5ODU1NTc5L3NpZC84a1NuZ2N5aw%3D%3Da also what is your OS is it XP or windows 7, as well as check you wireless capability on your computer if it is ready for wireless connection...

Wii will not connect to internet

Try to change the router channel number. Nintendo suggests to put it on ch 7 or 11. You can do this from a computer that is connected to the internet through the same router. Open up a browser an in the address bar type in your default gateway to login into your router and change the options. Each router is different and might have different default gateways. For example Netgear routers usually have the default gateway 198.168.1.1 but others will be different. You can find your default gateway by:

WinXp
1.Click start
2.Click run
3.type cmd - enter
4.type ipconfig - and it will display your info.

Win7
1.Click start
2. type cmd in the search bar and when you see cmd.exe click it once (usually the top find)
3.then type ipconfig - and it will display you info

After you find your default gateway number type it into your browsers address bar, no www or http needed. Just type it as it is.

Each router's configuration page is different so I would suggest that you consult your manual on how to change the wifi channel, or broadcast channel, or even radio channel. All of those sould be terms that are used. Hope this helped.
