I'm trying to have an dynamic IP but I can't do it and I think that is because of the belkin adapter!I changed for a automatic IP in properties of the network, but this didn't work.

The belkin has chosen APIPA (169.xxx.xxx.xxx) because of its failure to find you a valid ip address. This can be due to bad cabling or your DHCP server not running.Try choosing repair under the connection.

Address ip reset

Your IP address is a series of numbers that identify your specific computer on the Internet.
If, for some reason, you want to change your IP address, you can do so without going into the command prompt.Click "Start," "Control Panel," "Network and Internet" and "Network and Sharing Center."
Click "Change adapter settings."
Right-click the network you want to change and click "Properties."
Click the "Networking" tab.
Put a check either next to Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) or Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click "Properties."
Click the radio button next to Obtain an IP Address Automatically if you want Windows to assign one, or click "Use the following IP address" to manually change it.
Enter the requested information and click "OK."

Ip address dynamic

Dynamic and Static addressing are the two main methods used for IP address assignments. Dynamic IP addresses are automatically obtained and nothing needs to be done on the user end. However, Static IP address information must be configured manually. If you do not have a router, you need to input your static IP information directly into your Apple Macintosh.

Click "Apple > System Preferences." Click the "Network" icon. Click the "TCP/IP" tab. Choose "Manually" in the Configure drop-down menu. Click in "Show" and choose your Ethernet device. This is usually called Built-in Ethernet. Enter your IP address into the IP Address field. Enter the Subnet Mask into the Subnet Mask field. If your service provider did not provide you with one, use the default of "255.255.255.0". Enter the Gateway address into the Router field. Enter the DNS Server into the DNS Servers field. Two should have been provided to you. Push the "Apply Now" button to confirm changes.

We currently have benkin wireless in th home but for some reason can't get it to hook up on two other computers in the house. What should we do

Before you do the steps below make sure your Networking Interface Card (NIC) is working. You can find out this by typing 127.0.0.1 in command prompt (to bring command prompt type cmd in the RUN command)

Step 01: type ncpa.cpl on the Run command
Step 02: Right click the network connection and navigate to the properties.
Step 03: Under Networking Tab select the Internet Protocol IP v 4 click property button right underneath it.
Step 04: Under General make sure to click the Obtain IP automatically and Obtain DNS automatically. This allows your belkin wireless router to assign IP address dynamically.
Step 05: Open your web browser and type 192.168.1.1 (usually this address is your default gateway if not 0.1 or 2.1 on the address) and access the belkin router.
LAN settings: IP address should be your default gateway address and subnet mask will assign automatically if not type 255.255.255.0 on the subnet mask section.
Make sure DHCP (Dynamic Host Config Protocol) is on and assign IP pool from next address to starting address and ending usually 254 or 100)
Start 192.168.2.2 End 192.168.2.100

Lease Make sure DNS are assign automatically.
ignore above steps if they are already assigned.
once you finished reboot your computer (you dont have to do this)
Now open browser enjoy.
If you still dont get internet you must check your cabling with ur router to pc. or different port

For that you need to enable dhcp on router.
Then set in your computer network adapter property to ip get automatic.
For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
For belkin router http://192.168.15.1
or
http://192.168.2.1

If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.

Belkin router when connected will send wireless signal but will not allow mother computer to gain access to internet. tried bridging on dsl, and pinging. when i called belkin the @#$%^& told me it...

Assuming your router is set correctly to your modem or the password and username are set correctly in a modem/router, make sure DHCP is enabled in the router, this gives each pc an ip address automatically.

Go to open internet explorer>tools>internet options>connections tab and ensure never dial a connection is ticked or greyed out. close IE

go to network connections, right click on your wireless adapter>properties>highlight TCP/IP line>properties and make sure that obtain an ip address automatically is ticked.

Open up internet explorer again and click refresh a few times, it will detect the proxy server then should connect, if not then the router configuration is wrong.

IP address

Hi tammyhope,
I would guess that your ISP is providing a dynamic IP address for connectivity to the internet. If your router is changing the IP address back to default, I would think that your configuration is not setup properly, to receive a dynamic address, but is set with a static address instead. So what happens is that when you attempt to connect to your ISP your router is resetting. If this is the case then you need to go into the router configuration and set it to recieve a dynamic address from your ISP.

Belkin g+wireless mimo router

make sure your router is set at the correct transfer speed eg 54MBPS as your pc may only have a wireless adapter that supports 54MBPS as some run at 108MBPS. You may also need to check that the routers DHCP setting is enabled so as to give your pc an automatic ip address and also check your wireless adapter or card properties and on the TCP/IP line click properties again select obtain ip address automatically.
