Question about Medion (40010998)

Video Display This problem just started. When I cold boot my computer, the green light blinks on and off about every 3 seconds and there is no display other than alternating full screen display of the RGB colors. After about 3-5 minutes, my desktop display appears. I have made certain that all video connections are firmly secured. Could this be a problem with the monitor or the display card. Is there a cheap and easy fix for this?

Thank you for your suggested remedy. The video card was my first suspect. However, I have eliminated the video card as the culprit by swapping out the monitor with a spare monitor and the problem does not exist on the swapped out monitor. In addition, the green LED light on the questionable monitor NOW simply alternates between on and off about every 3 seconds and there is NOTHING on the display. I now have 2 monitors that are exhibiting this same symptom on 2 different computers. I suspect that it is ironic that 2 of my monitors should be "toasted" at nearly the same time.

The problem might be with your video card or chipset. The monitor is working fine.May be some Ic's got corrupted in the system. Please check with a hardware technician. If its the IC problem, it can be fixed generally with out much expenses.

Pc starts but black screen

Bad video card, bad hard drive, bios battery. If you have a screen but only a blinking cursor on it, likely a bad hard disk drive, meaning all your data and files are now gone, also your os is likely inaccessible. If you can heart it boot up like normal through speakers then video card or monitor, more likely the monitor's power supply is bad, find another monitor (size not important, just the display connector) and connect it to your PC with the power off. If it works then it's the monitor that is bad, purchase a new monitor, if another known working monitor doesn't solve the screen issue, it's probably your video card. A new card is cheap and you should be able to install a new one and have basic display until you install the drivers.

How to tell if a hard drive needs replacing on a samsung r519

1. If you have blue screen give us the exception code (0x000000) 2. How did you get to this point? 3. What is the condition of you install disk? Windows setup could just be messing up because the windows disk is damaged. Find an OEM copy of windows and set it up to boot from flash drive or external drive (CDs at prone to damage if you want a reliable windows install only use optical media if its in pristine condition.)

My computer beeps but does not start

Those beeps are telling you what is wrong. Most times it's the memory or video card.

When you plug in the power cord is there any lights whatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of the power cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear the DvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for a second or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, but the screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with the laptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issue when you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous. Most times the problem is with the memory or Video Card. Count the Blinking Lights or Beeps and take note of their pattern (1 Long or 1 Long followed by 2 Short).

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoever when you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you was operating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cord is bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the power cord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the battery out) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can put the battery back in and let it charge.

Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugs into the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

Maybe your memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.

Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, Remove the cover that houses the memory on the bottom of the laptop then remove one of the memory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x on it with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the next memory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set it aside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If it boots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and put it into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

No display even after the system boots

You either have a dead CPU or a dead motherboard or a partially-dead power-supply -- the power-supply should supply different voltages to different computers, i.e., one voltage to spin fans, and a different voltage to power the RAM, and a different voltage to power the motherboard. So, it can be "partially" dead.

Borrow a power-supply, and try that first.
If all else fails, take the computer to a qualified technician.

Have you tried booting it from yor CD drive with bootable software?

Any led flashing anywhere in the computer?

If not, we are talking about energy problem. Try fitting the energy cord firmly, try connecting the battery charger in a different power outlet.

Laptop crashes shortly after boot, power light rapidly blinks red.

Its late, so just to make sure I'm not brain-dead basically your laptop runs fine as long as its powered by the AC adaptor but dies fairly quickly while running via battery. This is very typical of a battery that will no longer hold a charge, not normally a user repairable item. It could also be that the charging electronics (in the laptop) isn't charging the battery, again not a typical user repair job. About your only option short of taking it to the repair shop is buying or borrowing a battery as a test.
