Hello there michael:
This is a fairly easy computer to upgrade the memory on what you need to do is
First unplug the computer and ensure it is off.
now look at the keyboard and you will see 4 black tabs towards the top of the keyboard these are the release tabs for the keyboard get a small flattip screwdriver and insert it in the back of them and they will slide down towards the space bar to unlock. do this for eack of the tabs .
now the keyboard will be able to lift out from the top and swing back towards you
Now you can see the memory modules
M700 Laptop takes the PC100 SDRAM SODIMMs. Memory Type, and comes installed with 32 MB or 64 MB (non-removable) of Memory. You can upgrade your Compaq Armada M700 Laptop to up to a maximum of 544 MB or 576 MB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with 32 MB or 64 MB (non-removable) standard Memory installed. ok
Then insert the ram nad replace the keyboards and slide the tabs back in place and you are done just start up the computer and you will get a memory notification press f0 to accept and the system will start ok
Hope this helps best regards Mike

Hello I'm trying to download this web-cam i bought at and estate sale. im having a problem. i have windows 7 64bit and i have broad-band

Most older cameras will not have 64-bit drivers. The Windwos XP drivers available for this camera will not work with Windows 7 64-bit. You will need a newer camera.

Added more ram but it's not working Compaq E500

what did you mean not working ?? didnt see the new Ram memory ?/ or didnt boot at all ....anyway ...when adding new ram memory ..first thing you do is to remove the Bios battery for to let bios on defaults and let it be able to read the new added unit ....second ...be sure the new added ram is compatible and in the same frequency ,then remove the battery like I said and in the last ...reinstall the operating system ....always look at the boot to see if the ram memory that is displayed is the same value with the one you know that actually is installed on the slots...it should work if this was just an option to make it faster ...and not a wild guess cause it use to have issues and didnt boot before...

Armada 1700 upgrade

hello
No you cant upgrade your processor.
also to change processor is very complicated in a old compaq.
and if you should manage to find a faster processor to your old compaq it not gonna make your laptop faster. the mother board and ram memory are still to old.

Compaq armada 1500

Check MS minimums here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314865

It will tell you if there is any chance in hades of installing XP but if you only 'meeting' and not exceeding, you will be disappointed.

If (as I suspect) you are running 98se, you might be better off reinstalling.
I am not enamored of the differences.
