  • Richard Heaton Sep 30, 2011

I called Hoover and they informed me that they will not sell electrical parts directly to consumers. Service manuals are the are the same. They suggested I contact one of their service centers and provided a contact number.

Hoover windtunnel self-propelled - will not turn on

You probably need the switch replaced. It's fairly simple to do youself, and it is a known problem with these vacuums.
You can order the switch from hoover for about $10

I need to switch on my thermal protector on my hoover

FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Normally there are either screws, clips or levers that would remove the bottom plate or lid that does not work then the top cover will come off and that will expose the belt of the hoover from there u can continue further by opening the locks with proper screwdriver.and then the motor can be seen.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The best way to clean the HEPA filter is to take it outside and use a blower over the trash can and blow off the dust and dirt, or use things like an old paint brush and brush it off, or you can vacuum it off with another canister vacuum or shop vac if you have an extra one. For the best filtration is to replace it, there fore the air flow will catch most of the dust and dirt and then you would have to watch how fast it gets dirty and then do the maintenance.

So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

How do you replace the forward / reverse cable?

http://geeksquad.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=40485&thid=661987 How do you replace the forward / reverse cable?

I don't know how the end fits back on the replacement cable.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover U6437-900 / U6439-900 Windtunnel Vacuum. There is a hook on the bottom of the vacuum and @ the top by the handle as well. You may what to get a schematic or owner’s manual to see how they hook up because of the newer and different Model #’s for Hoover. The Hoover Self-Propelled works on when the handle is lower to a comfortable position then the self-propelled drive may just need and adjustment. There is a self-propelled rod that controls the self-propelled feature and it either needs adjustment or replacement or the part that hold it may be broken but either one can be fixed. So feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer with questions. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Need help installing belt on Hoover self propelled upright vacuum

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover Ultra U6430-900 Wind Tunnel Bagged Upright. The best way to install the belt on a Hoover to replace one or both of the belts @ the same time for the best cleaning. The average belt change is every 4 to 6 months for best results. There is a tool that looks like a screwdriver that has a right or left angle on the end that serves as a belt puller and to hook the belt(s) onto the brushroll 1st and then take your puller and then pull or stretch the belt onto the motor pulley. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
