Keyboard dont type

No matter how careful you may be, knocking a cup of coffee or spilling a glass of soda over your keyboard may happen. This does not, however, mean the end of your keyboard. If you act quickly, you may be able to fix your wet keyboard to avoid any corrosion of its electronic components or any short circuit which might render it unusable. By following a few recommendations, you should be able to fix your wet computer keyboard.

Unplug the keyboard from your computer immediately after the spill to avoid any corrosion or short circuit. If you spilled water over your laptop's keyboard, turn your computer off by clicking on "Shut Down" on "Turn Off" in the start menu, unplug the power supply and remove the battery. Turn the keyboard upside down and shake it to remove most of the water from it. Take a hair dryer and set it to its lowest temperature setting. Use it to dry any water which might remain under your keyboard's keys. Wait at least 12 hours before plugging your keyboard into your computer again. If your computer is a laptop, wait 12 hours before turning it on again. For Other Liquids Disconnect the keyboard from your computer immediately after the spill to avoid any short circuit or corrosion. Turn your computer off by selecting "Shut Down" or "Turn Off" in the start menu, remove the battery and disconnect the power supply. Place paper towels on a table, turn the keyboard upside down and shake it over them to allow most of the liquid to fall down. Take a few clean paper towels and wipe the liquid off your keyboard's keys. To clean between the keys, you can also use cotton swabs with just a little bit of water. If the liquid which you spilled over your keyboard contained a high amount of sugar, such as soda or sugared coffee, you might have to remove some of your keyboard's keys to clean the surface under the keys with paper towels or swabs. You can do so by lifting them gently with a screwdriver or by using a key remover, which you can find in some IT stores. Wait at least 12 hours before using your keyboard again. If your computer is a laptop, wait the same length of time before turning it on again. Gateway computer 310 series wont power up when

It sounds to me like the power switch is plugged into the motherboard incorrectly. I would need to know the type of motherboard you have to get you the proper schematic for hooking up the power switch and reset switch to the board. If you have the manual to the motherboard, there should be a detailed picture showing you how it is to be hooked up. Please let me know the motherboard model for further assistance.

Good Luck,

Gateway 5228 wont boot no lights on keyboard

does it load the bios screen? Does it get to the windows load screens if it does go to the bios screen? Does the computer power on at all?

Sometimes what happens is the bios chip can be faulty or die and this will have to be replaced to fix the issue. If the computer is not powering on then it is more than likely a power supply issue.

(just in case, you might want to make sure that all of the adapters that come from the power supply are connected to the motherboard as well)

3 long beeps (keyboard?) and no video. Tried a second keyboard, same result. Keyboards work with other machine.

This information will help you out on the POS beep codes.

http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm
i suspect that its not on the keyboard but if you have keyboard card, thats the problem . Try to check your motherboard if it beeps without any memory.
If it beeps then probably your motherboard is ok. Try to change your video card if you have an extra, but dont buy yet, unless you already proved that your video card works.

Beer spillage on my macbook pro keyboard and now some of the buttons(including space bar)do not work or responde

Turn off your computer and let it dry out. Leaving the computer running will just cook the liquid and make it stickier. If you ever have a spill again, turn your comp off right away and let it dry out for a good week.

I spilled wine all over an old laptop of mine. Some buttons wouldn't work. I gave it to a friend who asked for it and she says it has worked great for her.

Give your comp a bit of time to dry out. Let it sit in the sun in a window for a week, then try to turn it back on.

If the above doesn't work, ask the guys at your local computer store what you could try to clean it.

I too had this problem, I had to disconnedct the main power to the PC, give it 30 seconds to bleed any residual capacitor charge and then plugged back in and hit the main power switch and it booted normally.

Gateway 610 k/b & mouse unrecognized..CMOS problem??

It's not the K/M, there probably was a surge that went through, and effected the motherboard in the computer. so you can take it to your local computer shop. But, before you bring it there, back up your important files because they might have to format your HD.
