Question about Printers & Copiers

Epson R340 printer. The display indicted it required servicing and showed an error. I checked on the internet and found that the ink resevoir was indicting full. I removed the small panel and attached a tube to drain the resevoir. I tried to reset the counter SToP/SETUP/Power. But still the panel shows Error service required. I downloaded SSCSERVE but this will not recogise the printer. Help please.

As the display lights up and it allows a reset stop/setup/power. I will try the deep service routine and see if that helps. Epson USA have a software utilty but this seems only available in the USA. i am in Ireland.

Have tried the reset options, no joy.
have dismantled and un-clipped all the cables and re-attached them same problem. SSCServe will not recognise the printer, probably because of the error message.

Any other ideas or is it a trip to the recycling centre.

Have abandoned the R340, and replaced it with a R285 which refuses to print the black correctly. I have used up one set of cartridges doing the Epson cleaning and still have the problem. All the other colours work fine just the black which only prints a few of the lines.

Try this one; clean your printer and be sure its clean before you use it. include the head printer. install the driver of your printer which included by your printer. insert the cable like usb from your printer to your pc and it should be recognizable. try printing on MS word and see if still the same happening. if still the problem occur then it should be send it to the place were your bought it. and ask for their assistance for replacing some parts of it. hope that helps!

If that is the case the only solution right now would be to take it in for repairs. Although normally the repairs could cost about half to about 70% of the cost of a new unit. That being the case i would suggest to just replace the unit. You can bring the unit in though and then ask for an estimate first and a repair guarantee. If the cost is reasonably set at 20% of a new unit then by all means go ahead but if it will be 50 to 70% then its not worth it.

Try lubricating the little switch on the right side of the drop-down tray platform. (A VERY brief shot of WD40 using the included spray straw, then wipe up any excess) The switch determines when the tray insertion is stopped at the beginning of CD printing. If it sticks, the tray goes to far in, and the job is botched. This fixed all of my problems with CDs with this otherwise great printer, and I've had my share. Now on my 4th similar Epson printer. (Though it doesn't sound like this is an issue, also ensure there is plenty of clearance behind the printer. If the tray even barely touches a hinderance, here come the error messages)

Its the power supply board error in your printer if its under warranty get it replaced.
as the problem is very rare and whoever faced the service problem has not solved the problem.

still some of my clients have solved the problem by deep servicing the printer by removing all the cables connected internally in the printer and and then reinserting the cables ,but it was short time help as mostly all of them faced it after some days the same problem appeared.

feel free for further queries.
thanks

if you are familiar with disassembling the device you can do it your self .or if you require a engineer for reparing this -----

on the fixya home page there is service /repair option---- in that option just type your proper zip code number of your area the nearest repair center to your area will be given with contact numbers you can call them and explain your problem they will give you free estimate of reparing the printer.but make it clear for the charges what you will have to pay before the reparing without any misunderstanding.

    thanks.

Hi,

To reset the waste ink counter, press the following three buttons simultaneously, until the unit powers off: Power, Setup, and Stop. Then turn the power back on.

After you reset the counter, you need to redirect the waste ink or you will continue to get this error. On the back of the printer is a little door that is held by a screw. Remove the door and look inside, looking down, for a piece of white absorbent. Under the absorbent is a "clear" tube. This is the waste ink tube. Pull the end out (there will only be a few inches that protrude from the back of the printer). Now, connect some tubing to this, fish aquarium tubing works well, and push the free end into a jar or bottle that has a hole cut in the top or lid.

Once you redirect the waste ink away from the absorbent and sensors, you will no longer receive the error message. If you do a lot of printing, you should also look using at a continuous ink system (CIS). They can be found on eBay or from several vendors like Print-On-a-Dime. The same CIS will fit the R300, R320 and R340.

R 340 cartridges have remaining ink but printer

just go to the process of ink cartridge replacement without actually putting in new ink cartridges, sometimes printers make read errors, just make sure ink cartridges are placed properly to position.

My printer is showing error service required message

Look for a paper jam, first. Check thoroughly the top, back panel, inside feeder tray, etc. If you are sure it is clean then open the printer and remove the ink. Clean around the ink carriage and the under the ink with alcohol and a cotton swab. Pay special attention to areas with copper contacts.

If all else fails change out the ink, but first double check that the ink is correct against the manual or written instructions inside the printer. Check the number not the shape, because not every cartridge that fits the printer necessarily is the right type and using the wrong ink can cause unexpected results similar to this.

I searched the manual and all online help from Epson. There is no detail for the problem, they simply say if you get that error, contact Epson support.

Epson Pro 7600 Service required error

Service required mean waste ink counter overflow. You need to reset it. SSC Service utility don't work with this type. The resetter is not for free, it's commercial. Only some distributor have it.

Screen says "service required" Printer will only turn on, that's it.

Its Epson design. It means it already reach it maximum reliable printing service. But you can extend its service using Epson resetter. Its a third party software utility program. It will reset its counter to zero count again. Counter resetting is on the printer itself not in the ink cartridge.

Printer error

If it is the dreaded Service error, the SSC utility may or may not work but the 340 350 Adjustment Program will. Key to it after you install it is to set you computer date at February 1, 2007 before opening because the program expires on February 22, 2007. The first time you open it you must also close and delete a folder that it creates each used called ADJUSTMENT PROGRAM. Google it.
Also, if it is a WASTE PAD PROBLEM, it won't be solved just by resetting the counters. I did the "pull the hose out the back and ran the hose into a baby food jar" for my R200 and haven't had the problem since. Found directions for thid on fixyourownprinter.com. Just did the same for my R340.
