E-mail contact book

When I type names and addresses into my contact book, they go in, but when I try to send those people an e-mail, their name or address will not come up.

Click on the contact list and put the check marks beside the contact that you want to send a message to.

you must be typing the name of the recipient instead of selecting them from the Contacts. You may type but as the name appears from Contact list, do select that.

Step 1 Tap the "Mail" app on your iPad's home screen, tap "Other" and tap "Mail Account." If you already have an email account set up, tap the "Settings" icon on the home screen, tap "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" in the sidebar and tap "Add Account."
Step 2 Type your name into the "Name" box using the onscreen keyboard. You can enter any name you want; your iPad sends this name with each email you send.
Step 21 Type your full AOL email address in the form "" into the "Address" box. If you have an AOL email address with a different domain, such as "" or "," use that domain instead.
Step 31 Enter your AOL email password into the "Password" box.

How can I send a photo to a friends on face book I have not got a face book address for the person just his provider e-mail will I find his face book address

Usually on face book, if you type in the persons name and they have a Facebook account it will pop up with several people that match the name of the person your looking for. Once you locate that person you friend them and then you can share your pics.

Something has taken over my e-mail accout, changing my user name and sending out spam to each address in my address book

Firstly, send an email to all in your contact list explaining what has happened so that they do not curse you for the spam. Secondly, if the user name has been changed then how are you bothered. It is someone else now. Only you have lost your yahoo account. SO, open another one in your name again.

Automatic address, compose, forward, does not work.

Completing addresses when addressing an email works a bit different as Outlook doesn’t have an AutoComplete feature but has an AutoSuggest feature a Check Names feature instead.

The subtle difference between the two is that the AutoSuggest feature doesn’t have a direct relation to your Contacts folder or other address lists configured in your Address Book. Instead, AutoSuggest uses a cache which contains a list of addresses that you’ve previously used.

Outlook also has another feature which is similar to AutoComplete; Check Names.

Check Names can work interactively and by default also works as a background process.

Check Names – Interactive
To use Check Names interactively, you type part of the name or address and then press the Check Names button on the Toolbar or Ribbon or press its keyboard shortcut (for most localized versions this is CTRL+K). This will search in your Address Book for that part of the name. If only a single address is resolved, it will directly show this in the To-field (or CC or BCC field). If multiple addresses are found, then it will prompt you with a dialog to select the correct address from.

Check Names – Background
When you only type part of a name or address and then switch to the message body, Check Names will perform a background search in your Address Book. If only a single address is resolved, it will autocomplete the address for you. If multiple addresses are found, it will underline the address with a red scribble line.

When you press the Send button while an address is not fully resolved, you’ll get prompted to select the correct address.

To turn of this background feature of Check Names go to;
Tools-> Options…-> E-mail Options…-> Advanced E-mail Options-> disable option: Automatic name checking

When I try to add an Email address the display tab comes up with persons name but the email address does not show. What am I doing wrong. Help

You're not doing anything wrong. The e-mail address is stored there in your address book. Outlook and Outlook Express just display this as the contacts name. It will still go through to their e-mail address.

To get the e-mail address, just double click their name.

Don't just save multiple email addresses under one name try it like this type his name and give one address again type his name but add a number in front then at least you can know at which address you are sending the mail.

Okay, you have to have the server information in order to set up your e-mail in Outlook Express (i.e. POP and SMTP server names like and so forth.) Just navigate over to the support page for your internet service or e-mail provider, and they should have the step-by-step instructions for you for Outlook Express including settings.

After you enter the information from the support page, the Outlook Express account wizard will give you the opportunity to send a test message. Send one, and it should work if you entered the settings properly.

Now, regarding address books, when you use Outlook Express, when you set up an e-mail account, it sets you up with a blank address book. You can then fill up contacts in it as you go along, just like a paper one. But, you don't even need to have a single address in that address book as long as you know the e-mail addresses you are sending to and can type them in properly (like for example) in the "To:" field. So, don't sweat that too much. It's really just for convenience.

NOTE: Accessing the Public Address Book is optional. The Document Centre will accept a Public Address Book file that contains a list of user names and their E-mail addresses. This file must be Comma Separated Values (CSV) format for the device to be able to read the file contents. The majority of word processing packages will allow you to create a CSV file. A selection of e-mail applications will also allow you to export a list of users in the CSV file format.

The completed CSV file is imported to the device through CentreWare Internet Services. The file must have the .CSV file extension. A valid CSV file format includes the name and SMTP e-mail address. The CSV file should be created so that the Names are in one column and the E-mail addresses are in the next column. For example, the following are both valid format CSV file entries:

Smith, John -

The order in which entries are displayed in the Public Address Book at the Document Centre will depend on how the entries are sorted in the CSV file.

NOTE: This solution assumes Microsoft Internet Explorer is being used as the web browser. Other web browsers may vary. You may need to contact your System Administrator to perform this solution, as it requires knowledge of the network’s email system. Configuration of the LDAP directory settings requires the network to support LDAP Services.

The Document Centre will have to be configured for TCP/IP (IP Address, Subnet Mask, Broadcast Address, Gateway Address). Before you begin, print a Configuration Report and make sure the Document Centre has an IP address and the HTTP protocol is enabled.

From the workstation desktop:
  1. Click on [Start], point to [Programs], and select [Internet Explorer] to launch Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on [File] from the toolbar, then select [Open]. The Open window will be displayed.
  3. Enter the IP address for the Document Centre in the Address: field, then press [Enter] on your keyboard. CentreWare Internet Services window will be displayed.
  4. Click on [Index] in the upper, right corner of Internet Services. The Index window will be displayed with a list of hyperlinks to different areas of Internet Services.
  5. Click on [Public Address Book ] from the list of hyperlinks. The Public Address Book Settings window will be displayed.
  6. Click [Browse]. The Choose File window will be displayed.
  7. Browse to the location of your Address Book File (*.CSV).
  8. Highlight the CSV file and click on [Open]. The path for your .CSV file will be displayed in the Address Book File (*.CSV) field.
  9. Click on [Import Now]. An 'Are you sure you want to overwrite the existing Address Book? This cannot be undone' message may be displayed. Click [OK] to import the address book.

    NOTE: You cannot import a .CSV file with a blank name or e-mail field.

  10. An Enter Network Password window may be displayed. In the User Name: field, enter the system login of admin, in lower case letters. In the Password: field, enter the system password, then click [OK].

    NOTE: If you do not know the system password, contact your administrator. The initial system password at machine install is 1111 for the Document Centre 460|470|480|490, and 22222 for the Document Centre 425|430|432|440. If the administrator encounters a problem with changing or forgetting the machine password, a service call must be placed.

  11. Click on [Map Existing Address Book] to identify which headings in the CSV file contain the name and e-mail address to use in the Public Address Book.

    NOTE: If the CSV file contains names and e-mail addresses only, the file may map automatically.

  12. Click on the [Display Name] drop-down menu under the Imported heading. Select the heading that corresponds to the data you wish to use as the display name in the address book. The data you selected will be displayed in the Imported Sample field.
  13. Click on the [E-mail Address] drop-down menu. Select the heading that corresponds to the data you wish to use as the e-mail address in the address book. The data you selected will be displayed in the Imported Sample field.

    NOTE: If you are using a DC460|470|480|490, and if the CSV file does not contain a heading row, the drop-down menu will contain information from the first line of data in the file. For correct Public Address operation, the display name must map to a user name and the e-mail address must map to an SMTP format e-mail address, for example,

    If you are using a DC425|430|432|440 and if your CSV file does not contain a heading row, the first row of data will be lost.

  14. Click on [Apply New Settings] to save any changes.

    NOTE: If you click on the [Clear All Addresses] button all entries will be removed from the current public address book.

  15. Click on the [X] in the upper, right corner to close Internet Explorer and return to the desktop.

Motorola K1 Address book alphabetisation

Do you have your address book sorted by first or last name, first/last and name/picture are the only options I have.  but when I open the address book, I can type names to jump to, one letter at a time, just like typing in a name... like 3332777555 for 'carl'.
