Hi,
I really understand your problem. If this type of problem occurs then we could easily solve by formatting the device. But you are saying, its not happening. Please try again re-formatting the device by inserting into another usb port. or try formatting with other systems. Hopefully it should work. For batteries and other accessories Click on the below link or copy the URL and paste it in your web browser. Select the part number of your battery an order it.

This might result to having a bad HDD/software/battery. Try replacing the battery on the device.

You can go to this link to help you with that

Kieth please try what namizhka is advising you, about formatting the hard disk drive / flash drive on your player.

if it cannto be done through my computer, just right click on the my computer icon, go to "manage" then select "Disk Management" you should be able to see / format the player here because it will show up as a removable storage.

if you have registered your player in samsung, just go to "my samsung" download the firmware for your player then let it run, update and format your player to make it operational again.

if you have other questions just let us know....

Also weak batteries can give this messages try changing the battery.but if the battery is absolutely new try the other options given below.

did you drop it? if dropped samsung yh-925gs and the message comesup. you had to carefully unscrew it, and reattach the hardrive. it is easy, and you will see what to do. just take it appart, notice where the hardrive is, see the unconnected connection, and click it back together. it is surprisingly easy.

or
had to replace the hard drive.
The YH-J70 uses same drive as generation 3&4 ipods - that is; Toshiba MK2004GAL - a 1.8 inch drive 5mm thick. They can be found on ebay quite easily.
For more info on how to do it see here:

Hope this isn't too late to be of help, good luck!

for further queries feel free.
thanks.

Turn off the Phone. remove the battery. Remove any memory card plugged in.

Press and hold the power button on the Phone for 20 seconds,(Making sure that the charger is unpluged, battery is removed and the memory card is out.)
You wont see anything happening at this moment.

Now try to plug in the battery and turn it on again and check. First use it without the memory card (if any) for some time.

If this does not work. It may be the issue with the internal memory chip.

Try to reset the device and remove the battery for a couple of minutes then try again. if still persist then format your device to become fresh after that add the music that you like. hope that helps!

Did you drop your mp3 player ?
    If yes

Then you have to carefully unscrew it and reattach the hard drive.

There will be some unconnected connection and click it back together

This will solve your problem .

  • SAM ANDERSON Sep 19, 2008

More clearly i am providing you the steps

    • Make sure player is off.

    • Take off back cover. 4 tiny screws.

    • Take out the HDD, the big rectangle thing. The back of it should be silver.

    • When you take it out, the front should have a "gold sheet" attached to it.

    • At the lower corner the "gold sheet" is a cut out part. This "cut out" part is where the HDD connects to the "mother board".

    • Bend that piece ever so slightly where u can place your finger between it and the HDD.

    • You will then plug in that "male" part to the "female" part on the mother board.

    • when you feel it snug or snap, your MP3 should work now.

    • turn on the mp3 player to make sure it loads.

    • if it does, then you have fixed your "problem"

    • reassemble player accordingly.

I had the same problem - the hard drive had failed, which is a common fault. I bought a new one on eBay - a Toshiba MK3006GAL 30GB - which worked fine.

BUT... the drive came completely unformatted and I had to format it on a laptop first as I could not get it to format in the YH-J70. If the drive is FAT32 format, however, you should be OK to just put it in the YH-J70 and format it with Samsung Media Studio.

Did you try pushing the reset button and/or reinstalling the software? sometimes that helps. Also, I have a question for you: I am thinking of replacing the battery on my yh-j70, as it is getting weak, was it easy for you to open the player and can you then simply pull out the battery or do you have to solder? Would you happen to know where batteries can be bought for this unit? Thank you
