First of all i cannot understand your problem.....you are telling you connected both 80 gb sata hd and 250 gb hd on the motherboard..........but not showing the drives like drive c:,drive d:,etc......first of all when you intall any os....... example when you install windows xp.....the drive letters are automatically allocated....we cannot change it.....if you want to change the drive letters you will need some special softwares.......that you can search it in the net and then you can cahnge it.......actually this is not a big problem....all other functions will be working properly....dont worry.......i am a software engineer and i have experience in it....thats why suggesting you this idea.......

It is not showing in my computer because its not yet partitioned and formatted.... so what would i suggest you to do is Rightclick on my computer - choose Manage - in manage you would find something called disk management, if you click on it... you would get all the drives list including the hard drive you added... so right click on the hard drive you added and click on format to activate your drive...

Dear i am using ms-7142 v-1 motherboard. now i,m using ide 80 gb hdd.now i want to connect 160 gb sata hdd.its not showing bios also.hdd is working fine.i reinstalled os.and installed sata raid driver

first thing I would try is seeing if the sata drive is recognised on another motherboard if at all possible ,in order to eliminate the motherboard as the issue. If it is recognised on a different motherboard it is more than likeley a bad cable or a bad board .

Can't setup OS in SATA HDD in Intel d945gccr

Hi.

XP will not install until you go into the BIOS and find the menu page (probably by moving across the top level of tabs) where the SATA hard drives are configured. On that page you will see the ports and at least one, maybe all, will be Enabled. Close to that will be the port mode, usually setable individually for each port. Choices may include IDE (or PATA) Emulation, SATA, AHCI. Set your port to IDE emulation. Now look at the bottom for the key to Save and Exit - often the F10 key, press that key and select OK, the computer will restart and you should now be able to install Windows XP without any problems.

To get into the BIOS you have to press the Del or Esc key when you first turn the computer on.

Regards.

Troubling in sata connection

  • I suppose there is a jumper(beside the power pin) on your new HDD,
  • if its true the your HDD supports 3GB/s mode but your motherboard does not .
  • So place the jumper on the HDD on 1.5GB/s combination.
then
  • Disconnect the 80 GB,
  • Connect the new HDD,
  • Boot from any bootable xp or vista or any disk tool like erd commander and try to format the new HDD.
  • Then connect the new HDD and boot from it.
Tell me what happened.
