All rear projection televisions have at least 2 screens - the actual tv screen, called the lenticular,
(it is dark in color and has ridges or fine vertical lines) and the screen behind it
is called the
fresnel, which is whitish or frosted in color.

A
screen protector goes in front of these two screens and would be considered a third screen.
Usually the manufacturer screen protector has glare and reflections.

The actual TV screen (the lenticular) is very fragile and easy to damage.
It is not much thicker than a few pieces of paper.
A small child, a pet, or even something as simple as bumping into
the TV screen can cause
MAJOR damage.

in total there are three screens

they should be easyly removed from the front, look for a clip or small screw,.carl

if you pull the speaker cover off the front of the unit, there is a plasctic pannel covering the lower portion between the speakers. Remove the 4 screws, and the plastic pannel. Then remove the six screws below the edge of the screen. Pull the frame covering the screen up then out. Then, with the front screen laying on its face, remove the screws holding the side brackets and remove the screens (there are 2).

there are 3 screens there are also a screw on each side in back of screen to remove .

if just the front screen is cracked take to glass place and have piece of plexiglass cut to same size

feel free for any further queries
thanks.

  • The back panel comes off pretty easy, just need to get to all the screws
  • Pull the lamp out first. The Mirror is "behind" the lamp when looking from the back of the tv.
  • The tray with the light engine comes out, you need to unscrew it from the tv frame. Look out for the black plastic in front of the lens. There is one small screw.
  • All the cables are unique, so don't worry if you forget to write them down
  • Be careful with the thin cable that is closest to you when you open up the tv. It is connected to a silver rectangular thing (don't know what it does). There is a small lock (lever) on one of the sides.
  • Also be careful with the door lock sensor cable. It connects to the board on the left side of the tv. Its easy to pull off and if you do and don't catch it, you'll get the blinking green light that indicated the door isn't closed (cost me 45 minutes to figure that out.)
  • After placing mirror . Getting it screwed back in is tough.

Thanks for using Fixya

Unless you have the skill to DIY,iwould suggest taking it into a repair shop. you can still purchase the mirror and probably for alot less than a shop will charge you,but to save you the cost of possibly ruining your device,i would have a qualified tech do it. this may or may not be what you want to hear, but that is the best advice I can give you at this time.

What I understand you want to fix new mirror in your rear projection tv.
Unscrew and take off upper part of back cover of tv, you might see broken mirror piece there, mirror is fixed with 2 long metal strips on sides, one at top and one at bottom. you need to unscrew and remove at least 3 of them, place new mirror and place all 3 metal strips back and tighten screws. now place back this cover on tv and fixed it with screws. that's it.

Replaced lamp in toshiba 46hm84. still get

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php The ballast is the most common failure besides the lamp. The ballast is the one that displays the lamp indicator if it's not able to power bulb or if bulb is not responding.Have a blessed one!

Replaced new lamp in Toshiba 46HM84 and it will not light up. Red light glows and green light blinks. After 8 cycle both blink.

Be sure the Lamp Door is closed properly and tight.
If it is, I would suspect the Ballast which ignites the Lamp. It would be wise to get a Qualified Service person out to verify.
I hope this helps,

No sound no picture and new bulb red and green flashing lights on power up.....

The problem is either the lamp ballast or the light engine. My guess is the ballast. Part cost ranges between about $75 to $150 depending where you get it. If you're handy you can replace it yourself. I posted the process elsewhere on this site for another Toshiba DLP question (I think it was for a 46HM84). Good Luck.
