I am thinking of adding memory to my Compaq Presario SR111ONX. I was looking for a schematic of the motherboard or a diagram showing the memory slots and how to add it.

Page 43 of this manual seems to have the best documentation on memory for this machine. I saw a 2GB max in another document and this shows the biggest module as 1GB.

click this link for manual

It contains schematic for inserting memory .

By adding a memory card it should be the same as the memory card as before to add the memory what is inserted on your motherboard. if your going to add a high memory card then you dont need the old memory card after all. because it will have a conflict with each other. try to look on your motherboard's manual for compatibility. hope that helps!

Two long slots with tabs on each end... the hold the memory sticks vertical to the board.

Use your finger to gently move the tab away from the memory stick on both sides... after each tab has been moved away pull up firmly on the memory stick...note the position of the slot(s) on the side of the stick that goes into the slot. insert the replacement memory stick in the slot lining it up carefully and push down ... the tabs should go back into place on their own if the memory is seated properly.

I have this pc HP Presario uWave2 Socket462 Motherboard compaq presario 4000. The problem is that is doens't on, the cpu has the light in green but the monitor doesn't show anything, something if they...

alot of motherboards use shared memory for display meaning that if the memory cards lose connection no video.
take memory cards out of the computer and clean the gold contacts with pencil eraser and try rebooting the computer to see if you get video if not try 1 memory card at a time to see if there is a bad stick of ram causing it not to show video.

Kicks off dial-up after 5 minutes-dial-up shows still connected compaq presario sr111onx

This is normal. All users of dial up get kicked off randomly to make room on the service providers servers for other users to log on. In addition to it's extremely slow speed, this is the downside to dial up. I would suggest switching to DSL or Cable. It's a constant 'On' connection you cannot get kicked off of.

Need Power Pin Outputs for Compaq Presario Motherboard

Orient the motherboard so that the Memory Slots are at the top of the board as you look down upon it, and the white plastic power connection is at your left also at the top of the board.

The power switch block of pins should be at your right hand and also at the top of the board in a line with the power connection and the top of the memory Slots and identified as such, but since you have been persistent in asking, I assume they are not so carefully identified.

If you do not have the other connections assembled on the rows of black plastic with copper colored pins where the connection to power is located, simply use a magnifier to locate the paint that SHOULD be located on the printed circuit board identifying the power switch, the hdd switch and the fan power connecter and note the POWER indication located on the motherboard in white paint. The jumpers or white pieces of plastic should also be located in this area, as a guide.

Compaq does not provide such a diagram as you request, but does have a PICTURE of your motherboard located here halfway down the page in the form of two alternatives.

Pc freezes when new memory installed

You problem is the motherboard. On your PCs mother board the 128MB that came with the motherboard might be the highest memory the chipset on your motherboard can accommodate. The chipset is built in and you cannot change or upgrade it. You can speed up the PC with how many memo sticks you added, if the chipset can handle. So it look like if you want a fast PC you need to get a new motherboard chipset with higher memory clock frequency.
Here's the pic of the chipset on the motherboard(square type)

My friend has a Compaq presario f600 laptop & needs to replace the motherboard. What sort of motherboard would he need to get for it please?

I think I have the same laptop that also needs a motherboard. The Presario F600 also had a m/n of F572US found on the label with serial. Looking on the Compaq site I found the motherboard is the same as for the F500 notebooks which is 442875-001. Link is at: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01095493.pdf This number is also found under the memory chips on most Compaq/Hp Laptops. Simply open memory cover and remove the memory chips and there you will find the Motherboard replacement number. Good Luck!

A new motherboard for a old compaq presario 5240

You will need a new case and a new power supply. I would replace the memory as well.

Compaq had a tendency to make cases to only fit their boards back then. Youre better off building a new unit and starting over again.
