I dropped my camera in the sand and the lense won't close. When I turn it on it makes a buzzing sound and states ''Lense error, restart camera'' and then turns off.

The lens has probably got something in the retraction mechanism that is stopping it retracting. This can be something as simple as sand or grit or as a result of a drop or knock. In most cases the camera will need to be stripped apart to remove the lens assy before it can be repaired. This is best left to a professional camera repair shop.

S630 won't turn on

Openings the lense is the last thing you want to try. If you dropped your camera, you may have to. If you did not drop your camera, some dirt somhow got on the sides of the lense and they prevent your lense from closing or opening 100%

Try this first
turn it on and the same time pull the lense out. Your lense may not be open all the way out. OR
Clean the side (outside) of the lense. While turning your camera OFF, push on the lense in NOT too hard. Try that a few times, If the lense retracted 100% or near 100%, just push the lense in a little harder untill it is 100% retrected. Turn it on, It may work now.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Lens are stuck out. screen says "lens error"

There could be two things causing this problem.

1- some dirt somehow got on the outside of side of the lense. So the lense could not fully retract or open out. As a result you can not take any picture. If the lense comes out even a little bit, try to pull it out NOT too hard a few times. If it does not retract, turn the camera off and push the lense in (up and down) NOT too hard for a few times. If the camera opened up 100% or retracted 100%, your camera should be back to normal. Make sure to clean the outside of the lense when fully open and keep it clean always. If this did not help, read 2.

2- If you dropped the camera, some mechanical part of the lense is broken or dislocated or the cable may have come loose. In this case you need to take out the lense from the camera and inspect it for broken pieces or loose cable. clean the outside of the lense and push the lense in and out a few times. Put the lense back on the camera and your camera would be back to normal.

Good luck!!!!!!

Jammed lens

When you turn it off, does the lense go up and down. If yes good news. while turning the camera off press on the lense very softly (up and down motion) until the lense retracts 100% or almost 100%. you may have to try a few times. if almost 100% retracted, push the lense a little harder in, untill it retracts all the way in. Turn it back on, it should work now. If you do not keep your lense clean you get that problem. After you droped it, some mechanical part on the lense may have broken or dislocated. In this case you have to open the lense inspect the parts, clean them and puth them back together.

Canon A540 powershot freezes with Zoom lense still out.

Probably the most common failure for all digital cameras, a lens error. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

Fuji finepix a600

If the camera was on when it was dropped you probably jamed the lense coil. The lense coil is what helps the camera smoothly pull in the lense and back out. Now, just to specify, what exactly are you having a problem with? Will the actual lense not go back into the camera when you turn it off; or can you not get your camera off zoom?
Let me know~

Lens won't in on camera and makes clicking sound.

When you dropped your camera, some dirt got on the outside of the lense or some mechanical part of the lense broke or dislocated. If some of the mechnical part of the lense is damaged, you need to open up the lense from the camera and inspect the parts. Look for loose parts, then clean it and put it back.
I had the same problem with my sony Cyber-shop, but it was not dropped. somehow one or more small piece of dirt got on the outside of the lense. Here is what I did and the problem was fixed for good.
While turning the camera off, I pressed on the lense (up and down motion) softly. After a few times, the lense retracted 95% of the normal retracted position. I then, pressed the lense a little harder in untill it was fully retracted. It has been working okay since then.

You should always keep the outside of the lense clean and do not drop it.

Good luck
