Gigabyte GA-8INXP Motherboard Problem- front connector pins

Lost manual on Gigabyte GA8inxp, while the web manual shows the polarity of the front panel connector pins for Power switch, Reset switch, HDD LED, Power LED, PC speaker, I don't know the polarity of each connector from the Antec? tower case to put them in the right orientation. I need something that would say the blue wire on the reset switch is positive for example to place the connector correctly. Any insight would be appreciated.

    already looked at manual which shows pin assignments similar to posted picture. My problem is I don't know wire polarity for the connectors coming from the case to hook them up correctly. For the two pin connectors, there is a 50/50 chance of the right polarity being hooked up but with the multiple number of connectors, the possiblities are immense to try it by trial and error.

    I have an Antec Performance seriesII sx1000II SOHO File Server Case. The Antec manual states "Reset (labeled RESET SW) connects to your motherboard at the RST connector. The label should be facing the front of the case, and for all the following connectors as well."
    Problem is all the connector pins face to the side so the label would either face the sidewall case or the inerior of the motherboard. Neither the Antec manual or Gigabyte manual indicate which way to orientate the front panel conectors for the correct polarity as the pins/connectors face to the side and not the front of the case as recommended in the Antec manual. Any insight would be appreciated.

    CHARCOIS,

    I can see all the names of the front panel wire units but with two wires and openings in each to plug into the motherboard for the wire label, I don't know which way to plug them in for correct polarity - plugging in the connector 180 degrees gives a 50/50 chance of the wrong polarity for the motherboard pin assignment.

    Using a 2million CP flood light and a 10x magnifier, I looked at each front panel conector wire set. Each one had one wire leading into the black connector which was labeled KSP and had an arrow at the end of the connector for that wire. The POWER SW wire with KSP & arrow was green, the Reset SW with KSP/arrow was a blue wire, the HDD with KSP/arrow was black, the Power LED KSP/Arrow was a black wire, the SPEAKER wire with KSP/Arrow was an orange wire and the LED I with KSP/arrow was a black wire. My question for the experts is would the KSP/Arrow on one wire of each connection indicate a positive or negative polarity? If I knew this answer I could hook up the panel connectors correctly.

  • medicpe Sep 20, 2008

    As I haven't heard back from my comment to CHARCOIS, I'm reposting question in light of finding the KSP/Arrow on one wire only of each connector. My guess is since the speakers have 4 wires, the orange wire with the KSP/Arrow is the postive one since the picture only shows one postive pin.

    already downloaded and looked at the gigabyte manual - didn't provide the answer needed.

If the wires from the reset switch is white/blue the blue wire is positive, Hdd red/white red is positive power Green/white Green is positive etc. The wires on the speaker connector will be red/black/black/white - red is positive. The colored wire is always positive. On all GA mb's the positive connection is always towards the back of the MB and are marked with a + on the base of the pin as you can see on the photo. Hope this help.

Try to look on the wires of the casing. you can see the names on it of each wires.
PWR LED are the light on the case of your cpu(steady light)
+HD- is led light of hardisk.
+PW- is the switch of you power button.
+RES- is the switch of your reset button.

+SPEAK- speaker of your computer that is located on the front of your casing. it has a hole on it so that you just can insert a speaker with a rc jack aside from the rear casing of your speaker.

I need the front panel connections location, which ones go where for the ga-73pvm-s2h motherboard

Gigabyte has the manual for the GA-73PVM-S2H on the product support site: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2691#manual . The full manual is near the bottom of the list. The direct link to the English version of the manual is http://download1.gigabyte.us/Files/Manual/motherboard_manual_ga-73pvm-s2h_e.pdf . The Motherboard Installation Guide at the top of the list is a generic manual for all motherboards.

The front panel connections are shown on page 28 of the manual. There are two lines of pins. From left to right, the inside line of pins are the Power LED +, Power LED -, Power Switch +, Power Switch -, then the Case Speaker +, Case Speaker -. (The speaker - is next to a Case Fan connector; so there are a couple of blank spots between the speaker + and - pins.) On the line of pins at the edge of the board, again from left to right: HD LED +, HD LED -, Reset Switch -, Reset Switch + . There is no contact on the last pin in this group.

I hope this helps.

I have gigabyte ga-g41mt-s2p mobo does anyone have picture of correct cable connection layout, so I can check visually if I have connected the cables correctly

You can download "GA-G41MT-S2P" Manual and all the cable connections are in the Manual.

FYI
As for the Front Panel ATX casing cables connections, the "white" cables are the -ve polarity & the "coloured" cables are the +ve polarity.

Hope it helps.

Gigabyte GA-8s649mf headers

It is a very an old question. I had this problem myself at an early age.
Here is an image that will help you:59ae22f.jpg
These are small, 2-pin cables that are in Red, Blue and Green colors (with white main connector). Try to not bend te pins receptors, because they are very fragile.

1. Plug the POWER_SW cable on the first two left pins;
2. Plug the HDD_LED cable next to it;
3. Plug the POWER_LED cable either to the insulated 2-pin slot or next to the two others you plugged in;

Be carefull because if you missplace the order your system won't power up, and insert them horizontally.

If you need further assistance, please post.

Hi nrls14, it can get pretty confusing with Gigabyte.
Go to page 9 in your manual or Pg 13 if using Adobe Reader. Motherboard layout. If you download the manual which is in pdf format you'll be able to enlarge the manual which will help you to see everything much better.
Download manual from here: http://china.giga-byte.com/FileList/Manual/motherboard_manual_7n400pro2_e.pdf
This is the English manual. (Downloading from china is a faster site).
Find SUR_CEN located between PCI slots 2 & 3 on the motherboard. Than go to pg 32 in manual or pg 36 in pdf. Set the pins SUR_CEN. Set a jumper over pins 1&2 & 5&6.
Front Audio Connector, leave a jumper across pin 5&6 & 9&10 (Default). On page 22 in manual, pg 26 pdf. Follow Method1:
Instructions. (Test your speaker system). You may need some tweaking & this can be done with the software included on the Gigabyte CD by installing the sound effects manager. Go to page 78 in your manual or pg 82 in pdf. Page 80 in manual, pg 84 in pdf. For six channel 5.1 sound. If you decide to use the Advanced 6 Channel Analog Audio Output Mode (using Audio Combo Kit, Optional Device). Follow the instructions on page 81 in manual or pg 85 in pdf. (Do not let the picture on pg 81 spook you). Pg 81 shows a set of pins not located in-between the two PCI slots. You make this connection by removing the two jumpers on SUR_CEN & plug in the SURROUND-KIT on to SUR_CEN pins. Lastly, both motherboard manuals are the same for the GA-7N400 & the GA-7N400 Pro.

Good luck nrls14!

Connecting hdd led lead and power led lead,where do they go ?

Hi, There are 3 versions of this motherboard; 1.0, 2.0 & 3.3, but the layout is identical. The general layout is shown in pins.jpg. For the power led, the white wire goes to the (-) terminal either pin 2 or 3, both are MPD- while the green goes to the ( ) or pin 1 (MPD ) as shown in powerled.jpg HDDpins.jpg shows the connection of HDD led, the white goes to pin 3 or HD- while the red goes to pin 1 or the HDD . I cropped these images from the manual which is also available at the gigabyte website. Hope this gives you some ideas and workout of you. Good luck and pls post again how things turn up. Kind regards.
