Sounds like the card has become corrupted. Try the recovery software, along with the corrupted card procedures at this link. Of the software listed, try MiniTool first, and if that doesn't work, next try PhotoRec.

After a computer crash I've lost the driver for Canon Powershot SD780. Where can I download it?

You can download Canon software from
www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_sd_series/powershot_sd780_is

You might want to consider NOT using a driver. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program.

The IXUS 100 is called the SD780 in some parts of the world. You can download software for the SD780 from the manufacturer's web site at

Problem with SD card, Canon Ixus 100 IS

Could be the camera isn't seeing/reading the card properly.

I'd check the contacts on the card, and in the camera are clean, free of grease & dust.

Rather than do anything drastic, Have a look at the Canon website and or contact them, Details below.
