Could be bad memory or dust in the memory slot. Take it off and blow dust under it and try again. If still not working. Remove the 512 and place the 1g in its place. Try it with only the 1g alone

Can i just install memory and computer configure itself

(1) re-install the memory. or (2) check that computer support 2gb memory, if yes then check the memory bus speed which must be support by computer. if bus speed mis-match then it would not be work. also check memory type. ddr or ddr2 .. and which is your computer memorty slot.

I wish to add RAM in the PC. Mine motherboard-Epox-EP-4BDA533(I). ID(identification)-05/09/2003-i845d-6A69VPA8C-00. On it costs RAM 256Mb -DDR PC2100 266Mg FSB-400Mg. How many Mb it is possible to add....

Manufacturer Specifications - EPoX EP-4BDA533I Number of Slots:
Slot 1
Slot 2
Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
  • 184-pin DIMM Banking: 2 (2 banks of 1)
  • Chipset: Intel 845D
  • Error Detection Support: ECC and non-ECC
  • Graphics Support: AGP 4X
  • Max Component Density: 512Mb
  • Max Unbuffered DDR SDRAM: 2048MB
  • Module Types Supported: Unbuffered only
  • Supported DRAM Types: DDR SDRAM only
  • USB Support: 1.x Compliant
Q: What memory goes into my computer, and will a faster speed be backward-compatible?
A: DDR memory with support for DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200 speeds.
Because DDR memory is backward-compatible, you can safely upgrade your system with any of the guaranteed-compatible DDR speeds listed below, even if your manual calls for PC1600 or PC2100 speeds.
Q: How much memory can my computer handle?
A: 2048MB.
Adding the maximum amount of memory will improve performance and help extend the useful life of your system as you run increasingly demanding software applications in the future.
Q: Do I have to install matching pairs?
A: No.
No, you can install modules one at a time, and you can mix different densities of modules in your computer. But if your computer supports dual-channel memory configurations, you should install in identical pairs (preferably in kits) for optimal performance.
Q: Does my computer support dual-channel memory?
A: No.
Your system does not support dual channel.
Q: Does my computer support ECC memory?
A: Yes.
Your system supports ECC. You can put non-ECC modules into an ECC system, but be sure not to mix ECC and non-ECC modules within a system. Install the same type of modules that are already in your system.

RAM compatibility with MK79G motherboard

Hi, I am assuming that the original piece of memory was a 256mb ddr pc2700/333mhz ?
i have looked at your board on the product maker website and it supports memory to 2gb of pc2100,pc2700/pc3200 type memory. Be certain however that the new piece added is the same clock speed as the original that you are trying to use with it. You cannot mix clock speeds, either pc will not boot or it will only recognise the compatible piece. Have you tried booting with just the new piece 9 leaving out the older piece)if yes what was the result. Need more help ?? compdoctor2005@btinternet.com

Upgrade ECS FSB800 memory from 1 GB to 2 GB wont work

This board will support up to 2gb as shown below extacted from the website product page.Don't forget that if you have ddr 333 memory installed originally, you can only add the same clock speed memory, i.e. ddr 333. If you add ddr333 and ddr400 you will have problems as the clock speeds do not match. If you are matching clock speeds, the try bootin the system with the new piece of memory on its own to see if there is a problem with that stick, trial an error of both sticks individually, will give a positive result
