Question about D-Link (DI-711) Router

1 Answer

D-link 524 router wont reset

I can get into the configuration screen as user but not as admin. I purchased the router second-hand and it has been used successfully in the past. As a matter of fact I have it setup now, 'in the loop' so to speak, and am getting reports from Network Magic showing it is functioning- but not for the reason I bought it. I want to use it to wirelessly connect a second computer to a TimeWarner modem. A cd did come with the router but following the wizard only led to me to a direction to reset. I have lost count of the number of times I have tried to reset the router. Without being able to configure it I dont think it will be of much use... Is there a 'trick' to resetting- as I have observed this to be an issue with more than one person out there- is there any other way to reset the router- other than the 'hole' in the back? Can I configure from the command prompt... can the reset be repaired? I have tried pinging the connection and the results are what they should be. Appreciate any help you might provide! Thanks!

For admin there is no password in standard config.
Perhaps you can log in as admin and change.
Try as IP 192.168.0.1 (standard IP) and as login "admin", no pw.
If there´s a pw as it is second hand, I think you have to contact D-Link.

I cant reset password for my dlink 1155..dlinkap

Hello visit the homepage:

http://www.dlink.com/us/en/support

And download a user manual.

Or:

Resetting your D-Link router's Wi-Fi password is easy:
  • Type your router's IP address -192.168.0.1- into your Web browser.
  • At the login screen, select "Admin" from the drop down menu and enter your admin password.
  • Once you access the Web configuration screen, click "Setup" in the top menu.
  • Select the "Wireless Settings" link on the left-hand side.
  • From there, click on the "Manual Wireless Connection Setup" button.
  • Scroll down to the field representing my "Pre-Shared Key". If you don't see it, select a security mode from the dropdown menu at the bottom of the screen first.
  • Type in a new password. (I use a hybrid WPA/WPA2 security mode.)

The Forgotten Admin Password
If you forget your Web configuration password, you're stuck: you have no way to change any settings on your router. Your only recourse is to use a paperclip or other pointy object to reset your router to its factory settings. With the
paperclip, hold down the tiny reset button on the back of your router for about five seconds. Your router lights will blink to confirm the factory reset. You can now use the router's default password to log into its Web configuration screen (look in your router manual if you can't remember what this is). Once you're in, be sure to change this password to something unique.

Remember to save your settings when your done.

Good luck

Hello where can i know my user name for DSL-2640T ? I NEED IT !! PLEASE CAN U HELP ME

Hi

There is 2 Usernames when it comes to Routers.

1st is the USERNAME and Password you use to get into the Router configurations which is the following.
Username: admin
Password: admin
The above username and password is the Factory setting and only the password can be changed by an user. SO if it was not changed the password will still be admin or you can reset the modem to reset the password back to admin.

2nd is the Username and Passsword you get from your Internet Service Provider which usually is the email address and whatever password you gave them to set your internet up
