By default, dell systems' switch for wireless can be done by pressing Fn and tap F2. The wifi light should lit up. Your modem is integrated to the motherboard. If you were able to lit up the wifi light, this should be able to detect wireless signals for you to connect to.

I just bought a laptop and I wanna connect to wifi how can I do it?

First you must understand that wi-fi only works within a certain distance from the wireless router. It's not like cellphone reception where the wireless provider installs cells throughout the countryside to make sure that you can get reception. You have to either get your own internet connection to your house and your own wireless router, and then you have to install the wireless router, or you have to go to a coffee shop or other establishment (public library?) that provides its patrons free wireless internet while they are on the premises. Once you do one of those two things, then (in Windows 7) you have to click on the network connection icon in the lower left-hand corner of the screen, then click on the name of the wireless network that you want to connect to and click "connect", and then if prompted, type in the network key for that network. After this, you should be connected to the internet wirelessly as long as you are within range of that wireless router.

Have an acer Aspire One netbook and for some reason I cannot connect to the internet even though it is saying that a wifi connection has been established. This has never happened before

If you are connecting on an open WiFi (does not have WEP or WPA enabled), then make sure you are connected to the correct SSID (wireless ID) and not on some other open SSID. If you are on the right SSID, check that you don't have limited connectivity due to low signal strength. If OK, then open Internet Explorer to use its Diagnose Connection Problems tool...
1. click on Tools tab
2. click on Diagnose Connection Problems...
3. click on Next button and follow the steps
If unsuccessful, try powering off the wireless router and the cable/dsl modem for a few minutes and then powering up the modem first followed by the wireless router. Once the netbook has re-established the WiFi connection, repeat the above procedure to Diagnose Connection Problems. Finally, if still unseccessful, connect directly to your wireless router using an ethernet cable from one of the four RJ-45 LAN ports on the router to the netbook's 10/100 ethernet RJ-45 port on its left side. A LAN connection icon should now show in the bottom right of the Desktop's Toolbar. Hovering the mouse cursor over it shows the Local Area Connection pop-up with Speed and Status. If Status is connected, then open Internet Explorer again and use its Diagnose Connection Problems tool to check connectivity to the internet. If still unresolved, the next step would be to log into the router to check its WAN status and depending on the results, you may have to contact your Internet Service Provider.

check that the network its network drivers are fully installed to check it, right click on my computer icon, then hardware, then device manager, any yellow spot or question mark you see from the device manager means that there is a driver missing.

MY COMPAQ PRESARIO V2000 SAYS CONNECTED TO MY WIRELESS NETWORK BUT MY INTERNET DOESN'T WORK. Data send, but no data received.

if you are getting 169.x.x.x then your connection is not established and your netwirk key is wrong . you have to contact your isp yo establish the connection or if you have right network key you can try that. or else you can post the report which you will get by typing ipconfig/all command on command prompt.

Got a dell inspiron 1525,no internet saying http 404 not found. what do i do?

This generally indicates a lack of connectivity with your network or internet service provider's network, whether it's wired or wireless. Check to make sure you have an established connection to your internet service provider.
Knowing what operating system and your connection status would help to assist you further.

On my hp laptop the internet is not working but on my toshiba it is, is there a way to troublshoot that?

Sure, try running a hard wire to the network RJ-45 connection apposed to wireless.
Once the connection is established, run your wireless wizard and setup a wireless connection.

Need help with Wifi Connection with COMPAQ EVO N610C LAPTOP

First you will need a router which will enable you to create a wireless network for your internet connection. I recommend, if you're purchasing online, to use Tigerdirect. Then you would need a USB wireless adapter for your laptop which will enable it to communicate with the wireless router and establish an internet connection.
Below are some links for the most affordable and best rated products you need.

Cannot access the internet

I have looked at and reviewed your problem with your HP laptop DV6700Z and have the fallowing for you to aces.
First, if you are trying to access the internet via wireless, wait until you have established and wired connection.
If the blue light comes on in the front panel, the wireless is working, if not, you have a problem with the wireless modem.
Run a wire from your laptop to your modem and enter your my network, choose setup a internet connection.
Try to make a internet connection. Once you have established a connection, you can setup your wireless connection.
Hope this has helped you.
