Question about Dell Inspiron 9200 Notebook

Dell Inspiron 9200 stopped working does not power on

One day I was using it and it shut off for no reason. When I tried to turn it back on nothing happened. I do not know what caused the computer to stop powering on. If you switch the power button the green light stays on for few seconds and then goes off and that's it. Nothing else does happen. The laptop charges the battery but does not power on. I have replaced the ram and have tried without the battery with direct charger but no luck. Could anyone help me plzzz? Many thanks

In my case the light lit up and when you press power button the green lights lit up for few seconds and then goes off. In this process you don't hear any noises or anything. Laptop stays silent it's just the light that comes on and go off after few seconds. regards

Laptop is DEAD. How do your troubleshoot the problem?

In this post I’ll explain how to troubleshoot a dead laptop and find the problem. The following troubleshooting tips are not model and brand specific, they should work for most laptops.
Let’s take a look at two different scenarios.
Example 1. The laptop is absolutely dead.
When you plug in the power adapter and press on the power button, there is no signs of life at all. The laptop will not make usual noises, LEDs will not light up, the fan will not spin, the screen is blank and black, etc… In short, the laptop is dead.
What you can do in this case?...

here is what you may want to try, you may open up the unit, then check if the proccessor is firmly in place as well as other components of the machine.

worst case is you have a leaking or bubbles capacitor on the power supply for the laptop, that it cannot power up anymore. these issues are very obvious when you look at the motherboard of the laptop.

Dell Inspiron 9200 PC Notebook will not power up. Lights come on about 5 sec then turn off.

Try these simple steps:

- remove the battery
- disconnect the ac adapter
- press and hold power button for 10 seconds
- plug the ac adapter in
- power on your system

If it doesn't power on, press Fn+Power button to launch the Diagnostic Utility

If diagnostics doesn't come up, your motherboard needs replacement.

Dell Inspiron E1505 Will Not Turn on

Hi there.
Try cleaning the system memory and slots with a soft dry clean painbrush and re-seating it.
Also make sure the air vents and fan area is free of dust.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Inspiron 9200 cannot power up.

Start by checking the power supply with an ohm meter for the correct output, however, this is generally a problem with the battery or a memory chip. Start by removing the battery and starting up on the power supply only. Dell batteries are notorious for causing a no start. Then try removing the memory and try one chip at a time in both slots. If none of these work, then I'm afraid you have a failed system board component, and you will probably want to take it in for a professional diagnostics. Also, you can find a diagnostics light codes list for your machine at Dell's support site.

You can also pick up the batteries less expensive than most computer places at batteries plus. And yes it sounds as though it is the batteries charge is getting low, especially if it runs fine when the battery is out and you have it plugged in.

Dell Inspiron 9200 Battery defunct or ....

Try taking the battery out of the laptop, and see if it will power up. If not it is possible that your power cord died - and your battery may be just fine.

For reference, I've seen plenty of Dell's with dead power cables.
