F11 code flashing-washer stops

I used you a month of s ago for a door latch problem. Now the F11 code keeps flashing and washer stops. Sometimes it will not start again after hitting "pause". Keeps going back to f11. Unplugged for awhile and hit pause again and it started again. seems to stop halfway between cycles and flash F11 again. started okay but this is annoying to have to baby sit each cycle! Thanks for your help. We replaced the door latch mechanism last week due to DL and it not locking although nothing looked broken on latch.

I had purchased a FixYa solution in early August about a door latch problem and the f11 code flashing. I replaced the door latch motor 2 weeks ago as instructed. I thought everything was good. This morning the machine did the same FDL code and the door wasn't latching. I unplugged it for about 15 minutes and it finally latched the door. Now what is the problem? The old door latch motor looked okay when we removed it; no broken parts we could see? Gads, this machine is driving me crazy! Help!

F11 code is a wiring communication error between the motor and the control unit.

check for loose connection and moving wires that could trigger the connection error. specially when the drum starts to jiggle and shake.

un hook the sockets and put them back and make sure they have a tight fitting.
my suggestion is to put a plastic tape around each socket so that it would not move even with vibrations.

tnx 4 using fixya,

Try first unplugging the power cord for ten minutes.

Try also keeping start button pressed for ten seconds.

If this does not work there may be a problem with the control timer.

I will post the meaning of f11 in detail.

in detail F11 code means a communication problem in the serial link from the CCU(control unit) to the MCU (motor electronic control).

Often the fault is due to some IC jammed in the control board.
Try pressing the Pause/Cancel button, then press wash start button to
    restart machine.
Repeat this 4 or 5 times. Try also unplugging
the machine and repeating the process again.

Check the cable connecting to the control panel, if connection is fine you should follow the wires going toward the motor assembly.
Between the timer/control board and the motor there will be a box for the motor control unit.

Either the control unit, or the motor control unit is faulty, or there is a problem with wiring and connectors.

During the washing process the washer stops and the code F11 comes up. I have a Kenmore Elite He3t. Modle # 110.42926201

Hi, The F11 fault is actually described in the tech sheet as a "Serial Communication Fault" involving the MCU (the washers computer) and the DC Drive assembly that runs the motor. If you are not familiar with a DC drive, it is simply a controller for the motor that varies the voltage to the motor to change speeds. This is so the washer can crawl slowly to tumble your clothes as well as spin at the ridiculously high speeds using the same motor. I would argue that "Jay's" is wrong about the door latch - there is a different specific code for that malfunction (I think it flashes F and DL). I wish it was the door lock - that's cheap, unfortunately, I think you are in for a MCU @ ~$200.

Take care

There are five down para-wise You may find some very useful:

I had same error code F11 and DL.....I sprayed the door lock (inside) with WWD40......so far works OK

I had the same F11/DL problem. I tighten the two screws on the door latch and it's working great. for now

Just some part numbers to help if you need to order parts. For the GHW9200LWO Washer (Sanitary Cycle Model)- the part number for the CCU (Microcomputer or main computer) is 8181924. The part number for the Motor Control Unit (MCU) is 8182706. I did a search for the part numbers and found the CCU for $79.90 shipping included - the same part from Whirlpool was $190 plus with shipping included. I put the CCU on and my washer works perfectly again. Hope this helps someone since I had such a hard time finding out the correct part numbers. Whirlpool first sent me the MCU even though I specifically told them it was not that part but the CCU.

DL is a door lock error. This is usually an indication of a bad door latch. F11 is a serial communications error from the Central Control Unit CCU (which is your main computer). If the door latch is defective it could be generating the communications error code as well. A defective CCU can also give the same symptoms, though. Before replacing any parts, however, double check all you connections to make sure you don't have any loose wires. The least expensive of the two possible solutions would be to replace the door latch (about $50). The CCU can run between $150 and $250. Hope this leads you in the right direction.

I wanna thank all of you for your input. I had the "DL F-11" code also. My washer would run 12 minutes and then stop with the annoying beep and error codes. After learning that the "DL" was the door lock, I decided to order the part online for 50 bucks. After I placed the order I decided to take this $50 thing apart and give it a look-see. (Boys like to tear things apart!)
There is a solenoid inside that actuates the lock. My finding was that there was some hardened goo that seeped out of the solenoid. It didn't look good! I believe this to have caused an electrical imbalance that the computer didn't like, thus sending it into error mode.
Removal and installation was a snap. First I took the top off. Then to make room for my arm to get to the door-lock, I pushed the drum all the way back and held it in place by wedging a shoe in the front end. Then I pushed the drum to the side, opposite the door-lock, and wedged it with another shoe. This gave me plenty of room to reach the door-lock. Unplug the three connectors and remove the three screws from the front side of the door-lock. (Inside door at 2:00.)
Reverse order for the install!
Thanks again for your posts which led me in the right direction!

We keep getting a f11 and fdl code on our whirlpool duet front loading washer. Also we can't get the door to unlock, any suggestions?

"F11" is a Serial Communications error code. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r666194-f11_error_whirpool_duet_kenmore_elite

The "Fdl" error code indicates a problem with the door latch, which may be the reason why the door will not unlock.

Now...before assuming you have any failed components, try unplugging the unit for AT LEAST 30 minutes in an attempt to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). In many cases, these error codes are erroneous and can be reset in this manner. If the error code reappears following a CCU reset, then you have a legitimate problem.

Read through the link provided for pointers on how to troubleshoot the F11 error code. The two errors in conjunction with each other, usually indicates a failed CCU. The CCU controls the latching mechanism on the door. If the CCU is not communicating with the door latch correctly, the latch doesn't operate and you get the additional error code (Fdl).

You can trace the wires from the door latch to the CCU and unplug and reset them one at a time to make sure you have a good electrical connection as well. Do the same on the door latch end as well. To access, you simply need to remove the top panel of the washer. Remove the three screws in the back of the washer that holds the panel in place. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back and then lift off. The CCU is located directly behind the wash tub in the top center of the washer. NOTE: Make sure you UNPLUG the washer while doing this.

If you need to retrieve your clothes and the door remains locked, there is a manual release you can use to open the door. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r622155-kenmore_elite_whirlpool_duet_door_jammed

I know this may be a lot to read through. Try the CCU reset first. This is the easiest option and doesn't require you to remove anything. Hopefully, this will correct your problem(s).

If you still have questions, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Error code f11

F-11 is communication error between the Motor control unit and the Main CCU. Either of these or both could be bad. Sometimes unplugging all the connections from the CCU (under top panel) and plugging them back in will fix the problem. If fixed, there's a bad connection at the CCU.

F11 Kiss of Death!

f11 is in my experience has been a faulty rear board, its really a communitcation error betwwen the control board, the latch and the lower motor control board(rarely an issue with the motor controller, but have seen faulty wiring(in which case had to replace the entire wire harness, as well as ann occasional door latch. keep after it under warr, so when it does runn out youll have records of attemps to fix while underwarr and make them make good on repairs after warrr expires

F D/L and F11 error codes

I have a Kenmore (Whirlpool) front loader He3t that begin having the same problem after 2 years. I researched the problem and tried everything. The door lock mech. and all wiring was fine. Finally I stumbled upon a way to clear the error. (It still shows up once in a while.) The following has worked for me CONSISTENTLY about 25 times.
1) Remove top washer cover.
2) Disconnect the connector for the door switch on the control box.
3) Reach around and push any cycle button (normal, delicate, etc.)
4) Now hit the Cancel button.
5) Reconnect the door switch connector to the control box.
6) Reach around and push any button again. The clicking stops for me.
7) Replace the washer cover and use normally.

Hope this works for someone else!
There must be something getting latched up in the control board. And it gets reset.
