Question about Russell Hobbs RHNPC800P 8-Quart Slow Cooker

4 Answers

Control Panel Started pressure cooking last night.  After several minutes I noticed the control panel was not lit up.  The contents were warm.  There was no power surge or interruption of power.  The outlet is in good working order.  I unplugged the unit and tried again.  Pulled everything apart and found it to be clean and free of debris.  The control panel simply will not function.  This is only about the sixth time it has been used.

It is out of warranty. Did I pay 9.99 to be told to take it for repair? And if so, is it repairable or should I sell it for parts?

  • sugar131 Sep 19, 2008

How about refunding my money since you you weren't able to give me help in fixing it.

Remove control panel to have access at it's contacts and inspect it's general condition. if there is water leak inside they must be cleaned with spray cleaner and let dry before reassemble and try.
Good luck!

I have an all clad pressure cooker I need to know how long to cook a 5 pound pork roast for pork tocos

Hi Sharon! If you want the seasonings to get all thru the meat, I would cut it into about 6 pieces. Add your seasonings and cook it for 20 - 25 minutes. I have been cooking for 50 years and bought one of the electric digital pressure cookers. Liked it so much I bought another one. I made a pork roast about 2 weeks ago and I cooked mine for 25 minutes, It was so tender I could pull it apart with dinner forks. The seasonings I used were fresh diced onions ( 1 med) 2 cloves fresh garlic diced, salt and pepper to taste. Hope this helps.

Where can i find a manual for ultrex pressure cooker?

The company had a major recall and went out of business. No manuals appear to be available on the web.
Here are some general instructions you can use:

1 Set up your cooker. Place your Ultrex Pressure Cooker on the stove. Remove the lid and pour in no more than 2 inches of water. Depending on what you are cooking the amount of water will vary. More water will ultimately cook larger amounts of food, but you will need to refer to your specific model's instructions on this matter.
  • 2 Put in the food you wish to cook. Close and lock the lid firm to the pot. Make sure it is locked securely so none of contents boil out of the top.

  • 3 Turn on your burner to high heat for approximately ten minutes. Allow the water to boil.
  • 4 Turn the stove down to a low setting after the water is boiling in the cooker. Flip the pressure valve closed and allow your food to simmer.

  • Set the pressure valve to ten pounds. For vegetables, cook 30 to 45 minutes. For meats, cook 45 to 60 minutes.5
  • 6 Open the pressure valve and allow the pressure to discharge. Unlock and remove the lid to find your fully cooked meal.

The recalled 8 qt ultrex ll pressure cooker model # 11302c will the lid come off on its own or does it just not lock while under pressure?

Halt, do not use this pressure cook. The lid is suspose to lock. This means the lid become a dangerous fly object if it came off under pressure, plus extremely hot boiling water and the contents of the pressure cooker. Beside possible dying from the lid, and if one survives the flying lid, one will be will scalded by the contents of the pressure cooker. Another pressure cooker manufactured in China. I bought Tefal 4 in 1 slow cooker last week and couple of first times it worked OK. Now when I set hours for slow cooking it brings the food to boil in about 6 minutes and then switched to keep warm mode....

I suspect that is the norm for slow cooking. The cooking temp is brought up and just maintained for the given time. Nothing wrong so :) . You wouldn't want the food to sit in liquid that slow in heating up. It's kinda like bbq'ing. You set the patio on fire and wait till the flames to subside before you put the hot dogs on. I think you are safe. :) - Ned I consulted with a crock pot fanatic, My Wife!

I have a mirro matic pressure canner model 0406 with a jiggler pressure gauge. how do you know when pressure is reached and how to maintain that pressure for correct time?

I too have a Mirro 0406 that my mother gave me some 25 years ago. I LOVE it and use it every year! Fortunately, she gave me the manual along with the canner. It states"When correct pressure is reached, control will jiggle and sputter. To reach the first jiggle in a small cooker may take less than 5 min, or less than 10 min, when canning. Large canner may take 45 to 60 minutes for the first jiggle when canning a full load. Count time from first jiggle and reduce heat so control jiggle about 1 to 4 times a minute for cooking (about 4 jiggles per minute when canning). Constant jiggling causes excessive loss of moisture: the occasional jiggle and a hissing sound indicates pressure is being maintained. (I just canned 14 quarts of green beans with my Mirro today 7/26/09 :) Congradulations on your Mirro canner, I hope you have many years of success with it. Good Luck, and Happy Canning!

    Slow cooker not hot

If you only have High and Low on the slow cooker this will be normal until it reaches correct temp, the trick is Do not remove the lid once you have started the process, you lose 20 minutes cooking time every time you lift the lid during cooking, if you have timed ex,4,6,or8 hours just set to required cooking time and leave until done. hope this helps clarabella

Rival 38601 Smart Pot 6-Quart Slow Cooker can't get to to go to warm

Here is the manual for this cooker; http://www.crockpot.com/manuals/38601-C_English.pdf page E4 and E5 tells you details of programming/timer/temperature. Check through everything and see if you can figure anything out. after cooking, the unit should automatically switch to warm mode, if it isn't doing this then unfortunately i think it needs a replacement control board - probably not worth doing. If you want to give it a try then post again and we can try and source you the bits Hope this helps :)
