    Check your device manager.

Click start then run then type in devmgmt.msc

See if there is anything there with a question mark or exclamation point.

Can you give more details, if the driver is not any more on computer or just the new program readjust your volume.
You can check this by going start>ControlPanel>SystemProprieties>Hardware>DeviceManage; here under the "sound, video and game controlers" when you click on + what is it?- If is not something on theDevice manager with soun-means that you have to reinstall the driver, you cna find on dell site or on the cd from teh laptop.
Normaly also you should have on traybar the sign from you sound card if you click or right click on it should open an windows in which to see more details about the sound card.
Hope this will help you resolve this problem, Have a nice day.

Inspiron 1000 dell laptop with windows xp ie7? is there any way to delete some programs, make more room, and load ??????applications?? for playing facebook / zynga games and to play wizard101.com please...

yes, you can always open the programs and features section in Control Panel to uninstall utilities or programs you do not actually use or need. you can also delete old files like video, audio, pictures and documents no longer need to free up some space. after doing so, it would help to run disk defragmenter to organize the available space on the drive. Depending on the size of yuor hard drive, you can also replace it with a larger one or use an external drive to save files and use hard drive for program files and the operating system.

I can't use it at all.

Download this program: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Click on the blue tab on that web page to download the free version and once installed run a quick scan.

Delete everything it finds and reboot after its finished.

Its a great program and will even find hidden files that other virus scanners dont seem to pick up.

Well my friend gave me the dell inspiron 1000 and she told me she completly deleted the sound how do i get it back

You need to reinstall the dell audio drivers.

Go to http://support.dell.com/support/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen

Click on "driver and downloads". It will then ask you to enter your model # and service tag. It will walk you through the entire process with a little reading.
