Slideshow gets stuck on last image

When I download photos from a flashdrive to the frame or run directly from the drive, my slideshow stalls out on the last image and I can't make it go forward or back and none of the menu options function. I have to turn the frame off and start over. Need a fix. Thx, MC

At first the external 1gig memory chip worked fine when only filled to about 25 percent, then I added more pics until I got an error message say cannot create folder. So based on info from another digital frame tech blog (Kodak) they said you need to create a folder within the chip to put the pics into. So I did and moved all the pics into the new folder. That worked , sort of. The Menu on the frame won't work now and the slide show stops partway through the series of pics. It always stops at the same picture. No solution yet. The onboard memory works fine, but it is so small it was hardly worth putting pictures on there. You can't see them anyway when the extra memory chip is installed. Anybody got ideas??

Same problem here, the frame randomly stops on an image. Have tried two different sizes/formats/manufactures of SD cards as well as internal memory. When the frame freezes, none of the buttons but the power button work. After a reboot everything again works for a while. Then the problem reoccurs. Have tried various menu settings including random and sequential views and MosiacView off and on. No luck so far.

Hi, I am having the same problem. Picture freezes on a picture when in random. I have also tried changing formats and all with no luck. Anyone find a solution? I found a blog that states the issue may be with too long file names. I will try this.

I have the same problem as well. Once the slideshow cycles through all of the photos, it freezes. Nothing will then work except the power button. I have tried renaming the photos to just numbers, 0001, etc. I have changed their sizes as well. I am using a 1 gig SD card.

I sent an email to Westinghouse, and am waiting a response. If I hear nothing by Wednesday I will call.

I have been searching frantically and can only find this site linking to this problem. I hope someone can find a solution soon!

To fix the freezing problem, all you have to do is change the file names to basic numbers. If you have long file names, it causes the pictures to freeze up. Change the names, and the problem stops!

Things I have learned after messing with 3 different Westinghouse DPFs (1 -14" & 2 - 10").

1. Just tap the buttons. Exit first and then Menu or one of the other functions. Holding them down too long seems to nullify the functions. Only the Power button needs to be held down for a second or two to turn the device on or off.

2. Use a USB to mini-USB cable to access the internal memory. Expect flakiness when you plug in the cable. Sometimes it will warn the USB 2 device is plugged into USB1 port. Ignore this and just look for a string of removable drive letters to show up in My Computer window. The one named FLASH Drive is the internal memory.

3. I reformat the internal memory (FAT32 seems to work fine) and this gets rid of the troublesome canned pictures that may be causing you lock ups.

4. I have had good succcess the xD memory cards from 16MB to 1GB.

5. I have not seen any orblems with edited photos - just be sure they are named with .jog extension and not .jpeg. - go figure?

Hope this helps...

How to start slideshow after selecting the pictures

When you power on the picture frame, a slideshow will automatically display the photos on your memory. (If you have not inserted a memory card yet, the slideshow will display the photos pre-loaded into the internal memory.)

To restart the slideshow, press

ENTER again, or press the Slide Show button on the remote control.

Polaroid IDF-1030 Digital Picture Frame - Slideshow with Music

The manual for the Polaroid IDF-1030 is ridiculously simple and not very helpful. There's actually more information on the outside of the box.
One of the features that is not intuitively easy to figure out is how to get the frame to display a picture slideshow AND play music at the same time. The remote is the only way that you can set this up.
First, on your computer, create a folder for the images and a folder for the music. If you put music in the images folder, your slideshow will stop at the first music file it finds and just display the music player's equalizer interface. This is very boring.
Note on the pictures.. spend a little time and reduce the size of your pictures to 640 x 480 pixels. Dealing with large files on the photo frame is painfully slow.
images should be in JPEG (.jpg) format although it will also display .gif files. Music should be MPEG (.mp3) format.
Copy these folders to the root of your memory card.
Put the memory card in the Polaroid frame card slot and turn it on.
Use the remote and press the STOp button if it automatically starts displaying the pictures.
Press the MUSIC button and select the REPEAT button until you see REPEAT ALL at the bottom of the screen.

Press the PLAY/PAUSE to start the music, then immediately press the SLIDESHOW button to start the slideshow with music.
I hope this helps some of you who had trouble with this.

Pictures not bing displayed.

Hi, Not sure if it's the same problem but mine (same make but different model) also does that if the size of the JPG images are bigger than 4 megapixels. I have to resize the images using the batch function of Coral paintshop photo pro X3 to bring the images to 4 magapixels or below.

I have a smartparts picture frame.SP113mw Just loaded new pictures and first pic comes up and freezes, tried re-connecting to computer nothing. Can't use any of the buttons its locked up and can't...

The first (most obvious?) solution is to discard/destroy/disable/discombobulate the SP113MW. For my Mother-in-Law, I just deleted some of her images from built-in flash.

The SP113MW has a 128 mB flash drive that is accessible by USB, per previous suggestions. HOWEVER, the probable reason that your frame freezes on startup is that you have more than 744 images in the "Smartparts Pictures" folder on the built-in flash memory.

The SP113MW has a maximum limit of 744 images for a slideshow rotation, regardless of how much space is on the drive (that includes Built-in flash, USB, SD, or any of the drives). The default drive on startup is the built-in flash, so you may just have to delete some images to get under the 744 limit. FORGET the manufacturer's claim of "2000 images" (because it is technically correct); you can store 2000, but you'll never play a slideshow of 2000 (nor any slideshow if you have that many images). Reduce to 744 (all jpg's) and all will be well.

The other irritating thing about the SP113MW is that it does not allow the slideshow to include all drives: just one drive at a time, and that drive cannot have more than 744 images on it (or the slideshow freezes). That is why your comment about "trash" may not be a bad idea. However, mine Mother-in-Law's still works, so I accepted the limit, and it still sits on her shelf.

My external is hooked up to the frame through the usb, but itwill only let me choose internal memory or slideshow folders, it wont let me choose usb when i try to select media sources. how do i get it to...

The external hard drive is diferent from a regular USB stick, so this is probably the case. You could check the manual of the photo frame and the manual of the externa drive, probably you will find some settings that reffer to this.

You could also check that the external drive is plugged in to AC, and turned on, many drives require alternative power source when conected to low power readers like your photo frame.

I can't get my DP702 digital frame to save my pictures from my camera. Can you tell me how to do it ... ty

The DP702 frame only takes 14 pictures saved to the slideshow file. Install a memory card/device, then plug in the usb cable, electronic store carry it for 7 or 8 dollars. It's too bad, it doesn't come with the frame. Choose the photo you want saved, and press the save button on the remote to save the photo to the slideshow, if you press it again while you're on the same frame, I think it will delete that photo. I hope that helps.

You cannot play a PowerPoint presentation files on the frame. However, if you add still images (JPG) and music (MP3). The frame can play it's own slideshow.
