Images have horizantal lines and cant be seen clearly. There is a heavy tinge as well. I tried downloading it to a computer to see but no improvemnet. The images on the LCD display before the shoot is fine but recorded images have many lines across them.

- No, the image looks fine before shooting. It is only when we view it that the lines and heavy tinge appear making it impossible to make sense. What more info. do you need.

- Thanks for the comments. I havnt tried other camera but will do so. On the computer when I downloaded the images they were the same -unclear. When the shutter is half pressed the image doesnt change. However, I have noticed that sometimes there is a tinge.

-   I have the same problem as stated. The image looks fine when and during the shot, but horizontal white lines appear upon viewing the image. I've tried re-setting camera defaults to no avail.-   kchenail

I believe this may be an example of a recognised fault in the CCD sensor in some Canon cameras. To their credit, Canon will repair this for free, regardless of warranty status, (with free shipping in the US only).

See
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=PgComSmModDisplayAct&fcategoryid=225&modelid=13390&keycode=2112&id=29819

for details on what to do, and the camera models to which it applies. This applies worldwide (except the free shipping), for non US countries simply look up your local service centre contact details and explain the problem.

Good luck

It sounds like your CCD imager is broke, but it sounds like your saying that the images look fine as your taking them, but only show up bad after stored.... If that's the case, then I will need more info, but if they DON'T look clear on the screen BEFORE you press the shutter, it's the CCD, which is usually an expensive repair.

- When you "half" press the shutter (to pre-focus) does the image change at all? Also have you tried playing the images back in another camera or on a computer? Also, try playing back photo's taken on a different camera, using your camera as the card reader. Do their photos play back ok on your unit?
