  1. Try slowing down your modem speed. You can issue a command to your modem to slow it down when it connects to the Internet. This means that your Web browsing, email transfer, your whole connection speed will slow down.
  2. Try taking your computer to another location to see if that helps. If your computer connects fine from another site then the problem is clearly line related and you should contact Telecom faults for more help. If your Computer disconnects you from several different locations then you need to get your system checked by a qualified technician. Check with your computer retailer to see if your system is covered by a warrantee.

I using a roller fax machine. today i had fax a documents that have 4 pages and i put together and let it run auto. i confirmed that i fax once only but the receiver received the first page more than 10...

By "roller fax" if you mean auto document feeder, so what's the problem? If you didn't see each of the 4 pages feed into the machine one at a time then what happened at the other end could be because something happened at your end. It's the reason we scan and email most critical documents today.

Well actually there's no problem. I'm just wondering if you could email me a copy of the manual for future reference only. The copy that came with the unit was destroyed by flood waters. I would appreciate...

Hmm..you dont say make or model so if you were sent a manual for a canon that might not help if you have a minolta..RIGHT??? Go to the web site of the manufacturer of the machine you have...they are normally available for download.

Error code 48

Code 48 is internet disconnect.
On the machine if the machine is set up for internet connection, turn it off. Sometimes email is turned on and the other settings are not setup correctly.
Make sure all settings are done correctly
If one is faxing make sure the phone line is connected correctly and their is a good sounding dial tone.
One area to keep in mind is a phone dial tone turning off and on.This can be a phone company issue or poor line connectors in the building, even a corroded plug on the phone receptical.
Check these areas, even replace the phone line cord with a new one.
On the machine a fax machine not sending or recieivng, suspect a board causing the problem.

Information about e-mail

You cannot know for sure.

If you don't get an automated "failure delivery" message from sending server like "destination unreachable", you can assume that the mail was sent.

The other aspect is -DO the recipient RECEIVED the mail?,
SENDING mail does not assures you that it was RECEIVED.

Well, There is a way to add a confirmation request to your mail but most people click "NO" to the request.

To configure the receipt request in outlook express do the following:

Open outlook express --> press on "tool" tag --> a new menu is displayed, --> press on "options" tag, a new menu is displayed, --> press on "receipts" tag and tag "V" at the first chioce "requesting read receipts".

To configure the receipt request in outlook (not express) do the following:

Open the outlook program and press on "tool" tag --> a new menu is displayed, press on the "options" tag, a new menu is displayed, press "preferences" tag -->press on "email options" tag --> press on "surveillance options button", a new menu is displayed, then tag(V) on the 6th tag "send receipt"
