Instaling new dish washer - Bosch Dishwashers

Hi blairol,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

You say you are instaling new dish washer?

Do you mean you're replaceing an old d/w with a new d/w? If so, it's just a mater of following the directions that come with the new d/w. Be carefull to turn off the power and water to the d/w first. If you mean you're installing a new d/w where there was none then you're going to need some knowledge in electrical and plumbing. You might consider the Repair Directory for a repairman/installer. If you insist on diy then we can do it together if you ask for me for a chat at a convenirnt time for both of us.

Water not heating

Dish washers only use water supplied from the hot water side of the pipes under the cabinet or sink, so if you installed the dishwasher yourself, be sure that you ran your inlet water line and connected it to the hot water side, and not the cold water side. The dish washer has heating elements inside the machine to dry the dishes, not heat the water. If this is hooked up correctly and you are still getting cold water to heat the dishes, the problem may be that the unit is too far from the hot water tank. In that case, you may need an auxiliary hot water tank installed near the dishwasher under the cabinet. They make small tanks for such purposes.

Dish washer runs all cycles but no water entering dish washer

Make sure you check that the water is turned on to the dishwasher.
Check for a kinked or squished fill hose. If all else fails its most likely you need a new fill valve for your dish washer.

Just got a new Bosch dishwasher (forget which model). After the dishwashing cycle has ended (even long after), the dishwasher and dishes are still wet. Was this an installation problem? Thanks

Hi -
I can't see how any installation problem would cause this - if the dishes are still wet at the end of the cycle, you'll probably find the water isn't heating during the wash cycle. The dishwasher uses steam to heat the washing compartment and dry the dishes. It would appear that the dishwasher isn't heating water internally.
Even if the washer was accidentally connected to the cold water supply ** (see note), this shouldn't happen as regardless of the water supply temperature, the washer should still heat the water to the correct temperature internally.
** UK dishwashers should be connected to the cold water supply. For US installations, dishwashers are commonly connected to the hot water supply. For other locations, please consult your installation instructions.
I suggest you start a regular wash cycle and leave it to run for 10-15 minutes. Then open the door and test the temperature of the water in the base of the washer by hand. The water should be hot and there should be steam present in the washer when you open the door.
If the water is cold or only warm, the water isn't being heated internally or isn't heating to the correct temperature, in which case you should contact the retailer or Bosch Service immediately for a replacement. Do not accept an offer of repair on a brand new washer!
Additionally, do not attempt to repair the dishwasher yourself when under warrantly as this will invalidate the warranty.
Hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please let me know your location and the model number of the washer. This should be laser-etched into the top of the door if you can't find it on any of your paperwork.
Regards, BElectric

I have fridgdere dish washer every time I put the dishes in the washer it comes out foggy and discloured pls reply waht to do.

Clean out any junk in the washer. Then put in some new rinsing agent. That should work.
If it's still a problem, put a cup of vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher while doing a load of glasses and other light dishes . These should come out sparkling and it may help clean some unseen junk in the washer.

My dish washer is not washing the dishes on the top shelf and leaves a sand like residue on top of the cups and glasses. I have washed out the top spraying arm and washed the dish washer out with vinegar.

Hi,

I have an older dishwasher also and recently my wife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I am tried in vain to clean the things... Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad... So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to make sure it is working... Here is a tip that will help you with the online buying...

Have your service tech remove the door cover and check the wiring harness completely. Especially where it flexes at the bottom. LG had a problem on some of these models with the insulation degrading on the wirw. Replace the wiring harness and the motor again.

Dishes are not getting clean..glasses are covered in crud

Try refilling the rinse agent, and cleaning out the bottom of the unit. If the dish washer was resently installed. Or you have recently intalled or replaced your garbage disposal. Make sure the plug was punced out where the drain from the dish washer connects. If the plug is not punched out you will be useing the same water over and over agian.

Maytag Quiet Series 100, Model # MDB5600AWS, built in dishwasher. Does not get the dishes clean, dishes stay dirty after multiple cycles of washing. Please help!

We also have a Quiet series 100 and had the same problem, the dishes always came out dingy or with food all over them. My washer is about 5 years old and worked well for about 4 of them but the last year has been doing a poorer and poorer job washing the dishes. I finally broke down and removed the racks and all of the plastic parts from the inside of the washer. Doing this revealed that the groves in the under side of most of the plastic parts was clogged with food and debris. After a good scrubbing with water and a brush then reassembly it worked like a new washer again, cleaning the dishes very well and the best part is it saved us about $700.00 for another washer.
