Question about HP PSC 2355 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Printer repeatedly giving Out of Paper message, pile of gunge under cartridge

I have been getting a repeated "Out of Paper" message from my printer although there is plenty of paper in the stack. Originally I thought it was due to card I was printing on but even after a reboot, a clean of the rollers, it has the same probably with ordinary 80 gsm paper. I had recently changed both print cartridges so I checked that they were seated correctly. When I removed the black print cartridge I noticed a column of black ink underneath it. On looking further the black inky gunge was pretty well distributed under the ink cartridges and around the area. I always always buy new genuine HP cartridges! What can have caused this, could it be causing my paper low issue, and how to I stop it happening again. I'd like to know before I put my printer back into operation.

I could have written Josie48 's post. I'm having the exact same problems - out of paper message, pile of gunge, thought it was from printing on card stock etc.

I still don't know what is causing the ink cartridge to leak (I'm assuming that is what is happening) but after cleaning up the area around with lint free wipes and cotton buds (and rubber gloves!), the problem has gone away. I presume the mess had been affecting the sensors causing the false paper low condition.

I get the message "printer error has occurred" and please turn the printer off and on repeatedly with no change. This is the Epson Artisan 835

My Epson Artisan 810 repeatedly would give me the printer error message with the only option to turn off the unit and turn it on again. Over and over it would give me the printer error message. With the unit off, I opened the cover (like you would to replace the ink cartridges) and forced the CD tray all the way out like you are about to load a CD for printing, closed the cover, then started the unit up again. For me that did the trick. It went through it's normal 60 seconds or so of set-up, then worked fine ever since. Not sure if this will work for you, but it worked for me.

Top light blinking. Getting paper jam error message repeatedly. Cleaned the pad. did a nozzle check, replaced THREE cartridges. Did not give my blood type yet. How to fix? The waste pad is not...

This error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.

Paper jam message, but actually no paper jam

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.
