Yahoo messenger hi, when i installed yahoo messenger on my laptop (acer aspire 5583 WXMi - windows XP) i cannot open it and when i do the run as... it will display the messnger but i cannot sign-in and my virtual memory will be low and it will eventually hangs-up.. i already re-installed it twice (messenger) and already increased the virtual memory to more than 1700 mb... pls help... tnx so much

we need to know what operating system you are using on the laptop. If you have recently upgraded the laptop to Windows 7, you may need to re-install Vista or XP as your sound chip may not be supported by Windows 7. Go to the ACER website and look under the support tab..

With you just installing a new OS like XP you probably have to update the Adobe Flash Player software and also your Java software too.

Click on the links below and update/install both Flash and Java. Restart the computer and log on to Yahoo Messenger. The problem should be resolved. Links below >>>>>

1. Go and download the bios file - ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/asp.../bios/v1.06.zip
2. There should be a file call AG1A-106.EXE inside Alviso folder, just extract this file to the location you like.
3. In windows, use cmd (Command Prompt) to run this application.
4. The syntax should be ---- AG1A-106.EXE /ldcmos /reb -----
5. It may take 1 minute to load up, when it appears, just flash it.
6. Computer will restart after flashing and password should be cleared.
7. Don't forget to set back the BIOS settings if required.

Dear Sir,

Acer Aspire Model generally comes with a bison web cam driver.
To use the web cam search for an application that installed in program files.In windows Xp web cam can be used by double clicking camera icon present in my computer. If you are using windows vista or other operating system you need an camera application software,to use it. Without application software you can use your web camera only in messengers,for example yahoo messenger. If u had an yahoo messenger login and click on view my web cam,now you can see your face in your laptop.So first thing is search for an application software installed on your laptop.

To change the setting:

Click Messenger and select "My Webcam."

In the window that opens, click the "File" menu,

select "Preferences," and choose "Webcam".
Click the "Camera Settings" button.

There is usually a checkbox for "Invert Image" or "Mirror Vertical."

Un-check this box if one exists.

If you can't find this checkbox, try searching the other tabs.
