I assume you have fixed it by now .. and the solutionn was to re-install the Drivers

NB. If you know the problem is NOT the USB Cable, why post a question with 'Problem with USB cable' in the title ??? :-)

Go to the hardware device manager from Windows, look for the USB Controller devices and press the "delete" key.
Don't worry, this will not remove the hardware, instead that will force the Windows system to re-install the USB controller/ports and will reset the parameters. You might need to reboot the machine after you've done this for the auto-re-install happens

Also, make also sure that you:
- have a USB 1.1 compliant device (which you said you have since it was working before) [early PowerEdge came with USB v1 ports, not USB 2 port, check if your controller shows up as "enhanced" or not; "enhanced" = USB v2.0]
- do not overload your USB power requirements (you can see that from Windows, I think by default USB ports can only supply 500mA per port)

All the ports on the machine doesn't recognize the usb cable. The cables works properly when connected to a different machine.

I'm trying to start Microsoft Windows Server2003 from USB Hard Drive on Dell PowerEdge 2600 Server.

Dell provides lifetime tech support for all PE servers. Call them at 800-945-3355 and give them the service tag or express service code from the server. If it can be done, they will tell you how.
Good luck!

We have moved our Dell server, Power Edge 2600 to our new office. After powering it on, the monitor and keyboard are not working. Please advise

You computer system is not POSTing, in other words it has failed the Power On Self Test. Since the computer system was moved it is possible that a component is not making proper contact.

Start by removing the side panel of the computer chassis, you will then need to push in all connections. Push in the graphics card and RAM modules, as well as the power connections.

Some-times they come loose and all they need is a push to make good contact. Futher try this if need be, remove the RAM modules and clean the gold fingered contacts with tissue paper before cleaning the RAM slots found on the mainboard. Firmly insert the RAM modules into their slots and secure them with the clips found on each end. Power the system on.

Take care!

My power edge server cant detect all the hard disks intalled, why???

If this was me,I would make sure the cables were connected to the hard discs and to the motherboard first before doing anything else.If these are connected go to the control panel,go to hardware, device. It will tell you to add a device click on this and it will search for your hard discs.Or it will say,"can't install hardware because windows can't find the software"Then you have to go to device manager by clicking (together) the internet flag key(bottom left 2nd key in) and the pause/break button.(windows 7) and xp.Here you may see a question mark in yellow, right click this and update the driver. No luck here I'm afraid it will have to go back to the people you got it from.

Which scsi connection do I use to connect internal

Normally you SCSCI cable has 4 to 7 connectors the ribbon cable normally the last or next to last for a terminator is installed on the end of cable most DAT drive are self terminating so you may need to remove the terminator off the end cable.
The power from the power supply 4 pins to tape drive I assume you are talking about the DAT drive
When dealing with servers with SCSCI you have 7 devices per channel on the back side of the hard drive backplane you will be able to add the DAT drive cable or a standalone controller 68 pin ‘
Let me know if you need more help I can post some photos where two of my servers have DAT drive installed one for a Adaptec control and the other using controller of the back plane of hard drive array.
Dealing with SCSCI maters not what contoler you use

I want to format scsi drives and configure raid0

You can either do this in the BIOS or (easier) just run a Linux installer (such as Ubuntu) and it will offer to do it for you when it sees Windows-formatted partitions.
