Polaroid LCD HDTV wont turn on....HELP PLZZZZZZ

I've had my Polaroid Tv for around 2-3 years now, haven't had a problem out of it till a few weeks ago.

I go to turn it on and the red light goes blue then goes red, I left it unplugged for an hour then it turned on and worked the whole day even when I turned it off and turned it back on.

Well me being stupid I turned it off the rest of the night. Go to turn it on again and it does the same thing (When I woke up), unplug it and plug it back in...Still not working. Does anyone have an idea of what is wrong? I know the screen works fine so it's not that, I thought it was the power supply but I need a second opinion before I take it into a shop.

You likely have a bad control box. Polaroid sold MANY of these TV's with bad parts. I searched online and finally found some contact info for someone in corporate. I basically stomped my feet and threw a fit until they agreed to do something. I have had the TV for 1 yr 9 mo when it started doing the SAME thing. If you call customer service, they will offer to send you a "discounted" replacement TV for $310 (refurbished) but you pick up the costs for shipping yours back, shipping the new one AND tax. Or they will sell you the part for $500 and then you have to pay a repairman to install the part.

My suggestion.....don't take NO for an answer. They finally agreed to send me a control box. I am sure it's refurbished and now I have to figure out how to get it installed. I also found a site online where a few people fixed it themselves for less than $30.

Good luck! I will never buy Polaroid again.....ever!

When you turn on power only the blue light goes on and nothing else happens

There is an awesome post about capacitors going bad in polaroid TV's... it is here on fixya.
and another thread here

I just took apart mine, and though the capacitors are not "bulged" as they apparently should be, I'm willing to spend the 45 bucks on parts (2 capacitors, soldering gun, solder, and de-soldering tool) on Amazon.

It should take 1-2 weeks for the parts to reach me and I'll post back with the results. It's better than dealing with the $300 solution proposed by polaroid...

37" polaroid lcd tv won't turn on

Here's the fix:

I had the same problem with mine. Replaced the capacitors and now it works. When you open the back of the tv up, the problem is with the 2 capacitors on the upper left of the top card. Mine didn't look damaged except for a very, very slight bulge on the top. If you've never soldered anything, you might want to take it to someone who has, otherwise, it's a pretty simple fix. I was surprised I could do it so easily.

If the warranty is still good, make Polaroid replace it. They make shoddy products and should pay for it. And never buy another Polaroid again.
