Sounds like some connections have been damaged. the wires may not be touching correct points etc, so that would explain the decision-swapping. ring sony and get them to have a look at it

I tried to use my PS3 on a new tv (Sony Bravia) with an HDMI cable. After seeing the delay, I decided to reconnect my PS3 back to an old tv using the regular A/V cables (the red, yellow, white ones) but...

This happens when you change the output settings to HD, then switch back to regular a/v because the tv dosen't recognize the signal. Thankfully there is an easy fix. Just turn the PS3 system on using the power button on the front and continue to hold it until you hear a second "beep" sound from the system. then picture should beging to work again.

PS3 Has no Video - Simple fix!

When you attach your Play Station 3 to an HD TV through an HDMI port, the Play Station 3 will ask you if you wish to switch to HD Mode.

However, if you decide to move it to another TV that is not HD compatible, you will get no picture because the Play Station 3 is “stuck” in HD (HDMI) mode.

Follow these steps to resolve your problem:

1. Turn off the PS3 so it only shows a red light. You can hold the power button on the front until it goes into standby. To be sure, flick the power switch on the back of the Play Station 3 off and then back on.

2. Make sure your Play Station 3 is connected to your regular TV (not HDTV) with the standard video cables.

3. Press and hold the power button until the screen "flickers" and then immediately release. This should reset the video settings.

4. Wait a few seconds, and the Play Station 3 (PS3) logo should appear.

If this does not resolve the problem, follow these steps:

3. Press and hold the power button on the front until the Play Station 3 beeps and then turns off again. This should reset the video for you and you can turn it back on after this.

That’s it! You can play your Play Station 3 again!

No picture thru hdmi but picture thru RCA plugs

I had this exact same problem, or rather my friend did after I borrowed his PS3. You see when I borrowed it, the console configured the HD output to work with my TV, If this happened to you, there is a fix, With the HD cable connected, turn off the power to your PS3 and then turn it back on again. But when you turn it on, hold down the power button until you see something on the screen. When you hold down the power button of the PS3 when you are turning it on, it completely resets the video settings to the most basic settings (480p I think) so that it'll work on any TV or monitor. Once you can then get something on the screen, you can configure the video settings to match the TV you are hooking up to.

80GB PS3 displays Snow/White screen during playback

Did you ever figure out how to fix this. We simply took our system and hooked it up to a different tv and it stopped. I personally think the problem is with the HDMI cable and wether the cable and the socket are connecting.

Ps3 does not appear menu screen & AVI cable trouble

To fix the HDMI AV cable issue just do a manual video reset. When you power on the PS3 hold down the power button until you hear two beeps then quickly remove. If you have other problems I would suggest doing a System Restore under Settings.
