Try to clean the contact on the cartridge carrier first. Use the following steps.

I have included the link to the instructions to clean the cartridge contacts on the Lexmark site. This is located in step #4.

Step Action 1 Power the printer/All-In-One off and unplug the power cable from the outlet.
2 Open the printer/All-In-One lid so that the cartridge carrier can be accessed.
3 Gently move the cartridge carrier into a position where cartridges can be removed.
4 Remove the print cartridges. (For information on cleaning the cartridge contacts, click here.)
5 Using a dry, clean cloth wipe the carrier contacts gently from top to bottom.
6 Repeat Step 5 for the other cartridge slot (if applicable).
7 Reinsert the cartridges, slide the cartridge carrier to its original position, and close the printer/All-In-One lid.
8 Plug the printer/All-In-One back into the power outlet and power it back on.

Scanning Pink

It could be due to your color cartridge. Try to do the clean cartridge function using the printer software on your computer.
  1. On your computer, go to Start menu.
  2. Go to Programs.
  3. Go to Lexmark 1200 Series folder.
  4. Select Lexmark Solution Center.

From the Maintenance tab, select Clean to fix horizontal streaks. Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through to clean the print cartridge nozzles.

Try to scan again to verify that the print quality has improved. If not, try to replace your cartridge.

Colour setup for x4650

Make sure the color ink level is substantial for printing, otherwise, replace it with a new cartridge. Try to clean the cartridge nozzle - from the printer operator panel, press the Setup button > Maintenance > Clean Cartridge > press OK. Your printer will then print a test page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them. Then try to print your file again to verify that the print quality has improved.

I am unable to find color ink for my lexmark x6170. Additionally, are all the inks the same (quality)?

Lexmark X6170 uses these two ink cartridges: -
Black Print Cartridge (18L0032E)
Colour Print Cartridge (18LX042E)
It is highly recommended that you use the original cartridges as the cartridges and ink vary from printer to printer.
However, if you are unable to find the cartridges, you may look for refilling option.

ADJUST THE COLOR AND PRINT SPEED You may need to adjust the color and print speed. CHECK THE LEVEL OF INK IN THE PRINT CARTRIDGES 1 From the Finder desktop, double-click the Lexmark X5400 Series folder. 2 Double-click the Lexmark X5400 Series Utility icon. 3 From the Maintenance tab, check the ink levels of the cartridges. If an exclamation point (!) appears on a cartridge, the ink level is low. Install a new cartridge. Improving print quality These are possible solutions. Try one or more of the following: CHECK PAPER • Use the appropriate paper for the document. If you are printing photos or other high-quality images, for best results use Lexmark Photo Paper or Lexmark PerfectFinish Photo Paper. Do not use Lexmark Premium Photo Paper. Your print cartridges are not compatible with this type of paper. • Use a paper that is a heavier weight or bright white. CHECK PRINT CARTRIDGES If the document still does not have the print quality you want, follow these steps: 1 Align the print cartridges. For more information, see "Aligning print cartridges" on page. If print quality has not improved, continue to step 2. 2 Clean the print cartridge nozzles. For more information, see "Cleaning the print cartridge nozzles" . If print quality has not improved, continue to step 3. 3 Remove and reinsert the print cartridges. For more information, see "Removing a used print cartridge" on and "Installing print cartridges" . My HP 1000 Photo Smart is not printing in color. The film has been removed from the new cartridge, the printout shows color, grayscale is not checked Where else do I need to check

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled (the absolute worst possible choice) or third party cartridges (2nd. Worst possible choice) that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors.
If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

I have a Lexmark 1200 printer. Colour promlems

It could be that the cartridge has become dry.
you have to try several head cleans using the printer software and if that doesnt help then the cartridge needs to be replaced.

Colour ink failing

Remove the ink cartridges and clean the sensor below them.

Possibly ink on the blocking the sensor from reading the poper ink level.

After that put the cartridges back in and then go to printers on your PC and right-click the printer on the screen and try to locate a cleaning process or if you have software installed for the printer, run it through there.

Do it a few times if need be and then check the ink level.

Head cleaning it's normally called.

If it doesn't work, then the printer might simply need replacing.
