Next time the computer gives you a stop error, write down all the information it says about the error (even if it is a bunch of crazy numbers or letters). Go online and search the internet with the words Stop error and the information you wrote down. Or with the words Blue Screen Of Death and the information you wrote down. You should be provided with information about the stop error that explains what the problem is. Or post the stop error along with your question on this website and we can try to help you find the solution to your problem.

GOOD MORNING SIR / MAAAM.. MY IBM THINKPAD R50E HAS AN ERROR ON THE SCREEN ..."ERROR 0271 CHECK DATE AND TIME SETTINGS'.. HOW DO I CLEAR THE CMOS FOR THIS ERROR? HOW DO FIND THE PASSWORD PADS ON THE...

It sounds as though your computer has the wrong time in the CMOS. The CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductors) is the chip that holds the basic startup information for the BIOS, system and its peripherals while the system is turned on and off.

If you can get into the BIOS check the date and time settings and make sure they are correct.

It may also be a case of the CMOS Battery going out. When this happens your computer will tend to not keep the correct time. They are cheap and relatively easy to replace. Before buying a new battery you can try to take it out and let it sit for about 10 minutes or so to reset the CMOS and then go put the battery back in and go into the BIOS and reset the clock.

Hopefully taking the battery out or replacing it will get past your lock icon asking for the password. If not then you may have to find out the manufacturer of your computer's motherboard to see if there is a common password to get past the lockout. Since it's a laptop then it should be easier to find this code based on the manufacturer.

IBM Thinkpad r51 unable to recover/restore

Hello,

In restoring your computer factory defaults it enables your computer to set its first default settings and eventually all your data stored in your computer will automatically erase. So then you purchase a recovery software and having some problem in installing it. Maybe because not all software will run in different platform or version of operating system. So my advice: Please find some computer shop in your area, a shop with complete equipments in order for you to recover all your data stored in your computer and let them recover it for you. In that way you are assured that they can do it fast and effective.

Thanks

Try going to Safe Mode. Normally you press F8 when you start the computer. When in Safe Mode, click Start -> Run then type msconfig. On the first tab, click on Diagnostic Startup. Apply, close and reboot the computer to Normal Mode. Lockups during startup are caused by startup programs.

IBM Laptop A22e Display an error 0175

The CRC error (POST = power on startup test) on boot up refers to the BIOS settings. This could be cause by a near flat BIOS battery and it needs to be replaces. If it is not the battery you need go to the BIOS to correct any faulty settings.

If there is a problem in loading the operating system it may have been caused by some change. If you can work out what stopped it from working then you can try and reverse the change. Alternatively you can try to reinstall the operating system, to do this you insert the system disk that should have come with the computer or the OS if you upgraded it and follow the instructions. You may have to fiddle around with the startup options to get it to run the disk. Most computers access these through pressing F8 somewhere in the startup sequence.

Without seeing the error, you may be best just typing the number into Google.
