Question about Maytag MMV4205 Microwave Oven
Chances are the magnetron is overheating. This can be due to a failed internal cooling fan or a failing magnetron.
I would suggest trying to run it on the lowest power setting and see if it runs significantly longer. With a cup of water inside, press Cook time > 4 > 0 > 0 > Power > 1 > Start. If it runs the full 4 minutes, then it is overheating at full power.
The internal cooling fan must be running whenever the microwave is cooking.
(That fan is not to be confused with the hood vent exhaust fan, which can be turned on and off at will)
It can fail if the motor is bad, or if there is a bad connection or relay on the control circuit board.
