if the jvc powers up, it has nothing to do with the water pump, its just pure coincidence. when it comes to jvc you pay for what you get, if its with in a return policy take it back and buy something better, alpine, kenwood ect
Try going to the crutchfield website and look for help installing stereo. they can get you vehicle specific wiring codes for free. Also, almost everey stereo has common color codes for wiring. red- switched batt. +, yellow-constant batt. +, black= ground, blue- power anrenna, etc.
First you need to get a wire harness for the Chevy (check Ebay) then follow the wiring instruction inside the package on how to join the spliced wires togother. After joining the wires togother plug the harness in and stuck the JVC into the recess where the old stereo was and thats it, it should play if not you don`t have a good ground, ground the body to the frame.
ok from what i can gather it sounds like something broke inside the unit and you might wanna replace it. Im sure you can find a much better radio really cheap. I had a similar JVC model and it gave me headaches. I think you will love this model instead. Trust me its soooo much better and priced really well for its capabilities.
JVC KD-R800 30K Color-Illumination Single-DIN CD Receiver with Dual USB 2.0 for iPod/iPhone and Bluetooth
I had the same problem, the cd refused and radio plays good, with JVC KD G321. I have disconnected the switches behind the radio and also disconnected the antenne (do not forget the antenne) and it played the cd again.
