How to Pair (Connect) a Bluetooth Headset to Your Phone

Things You'll Need:

* A Bluetooth cellular phone
* A Bluetooth Headset

Blue tooth can simply be called "a generic wireless technology that can connect your phone, computer, headset, PDA, laptop, and any other enabled device to each other."

In essences, it was designed to be a universal wireless connector between devices.

Ok... Here we go.
Make sure that both your phone and new headset are charged up.

Since every brand of headset is different, please refer to the instructions for "Pairing", but I will tell you how the most common headsets pair.

By the way, "Pairing" just means "connecting". If you find it more simple, you can substitute the word.

On most headsets, from the Headset being off, hold down the answer/end button down until the indicator light(s) glow a solid color (usually blue). This may take up to 10 seconds. They might flash first, then after a couple more seconds, go solid on.

On your handset, find the bluetooth menu.

On most phones, go to the settings menu, then to "connections" and then "Bluetooth". You are looking for a link to "Add a new device".

On Motorola phones, it is in the "Handsfree" link. Select [look for new device] select this option, and hit "OK".

Nokia Phones: look for "search for new audio enhancements". Hit OK.

On Samsung phones: **Bluetooth menu might be under "tools"** Look for "Add new device". Hit OK.

The phone will search for a couple seconds. If your headset is in paring mode, it will show up on the phone either with the name of device or something like this [unknown headset] or [b2.c3.f4.56.a1] (called a MAC address).

Either way, select it, and hit OK.

The phone will now ask you for a "Pin" or "Passcode", which is a 4 digit number. Headsets will ALWAYS have 0000 (four zeros) as a pin or passcode. I have never encountered a headset with a different number as a passcode. I have been in wireless for 10 years, and still have not found a headset that has any different numbers.

Enter these four zeros and select "OK"

The headset and phone will connect to each other. The phone will display a message that will be something to the effect of:
"Connected to headset".

At this point, the phone MAY ask if you want to use the headset. This means all audio from phone calls would be routed to the headset rather than in to the phone's speaker or earpiece. Select yes, or ok.

Your headset is now set up for you to talk on like a REALLY important CIA agent or something of the like...

Keep in mind that when a call comes in, the phone will still ring like normal.

You can answer the call by either:

1. Pulling the phone out of your pocket and hitting the answer button.
2. Touching the answer/end button on your headset without reaching for you phone.

The range of your headset is up to 30 feet, in a direct line of sight.

If you go into another room, your range may be decreased.

If you do happen to go out of range, the call will be transferred back to the phone, and as soon as you are in range again, touch the answer button on the headset to let the phone know you're back in range. It will re-transfer the call back to the headset.

If you turn off the phone, or headset, you can repair them again simply by going to the bluetooth menu and selecting the headset again from the list. It will reconnect without a pass code and you are up and running again.

*** Please note that you do not have to hold down the answer/end button on the headset until it goes a solid on again.

Tips & Warnings

If you have difficulty, please feel free to contact me and I'll help you get things sorted out.

All phones pairing are the same, except you would love to change it to any other four digit numbers

How do you get cobra 29ltd bluetooth in discoverable mode to match up with my cell

To pair the CB to your cell phone Press and HOLD the Bluetooth button on the microphone until you hear a beep. The Bluetooth light on the CB should be blinking on and off. You now have 5 minutes to link with the cell phone. You will need to push buttons on your cell phone to complete the pairing process. If you are not sure how to setup a Bluetooth device on your cell phone, then refer to the owners manual or contact your cell provider. During the pairing process you will need to enter a passcode. The passcode is 0000. After successfully pairing, the Bluetooth light on the CB will blink every 10 seconds to indicate Bluetooth standby mode. After 1 minute it will stop blinking

My new phone a Samsung Gusto is not pairing to my Plantronics 233 bluetooth? Is it compatible?

Hi, to be sure if the blue tooth wll be compactible with Samsung Gusto, you will need to use the below instructions first after trying out the instruction and still does not work, that means it's not compactible with it.

instruction:

Read the owners manual for your bluetooth device. You will need to find the code to pair your headset to your phone. This code is usually 0000 (those are zeroes) but verify before you proceed.

Enter your bluetooth option on your cell phone. These can be found in your menu under "bluetooth," "connections," "settings," or something similar.

Turn on your bluetooth headset and put it in pairing mode. Pairing mode means the bluetooth is ready to be found by your cell phone. To pair your headset, follow the owners manual for your specific bluetooth model.

Select "add device" or "search for new device" from your cell phone. Your cell phone will then search for your bluetooth. Once it is found, or discovered, you will need to enter the pairing code (most likely 0000, check your manual to verify).

Select "connect" to finalize the connection if the bluetooth headset didn't connect automatically after the pairing code was entered. Make a test call with your bluetooth in your ear to ensure it is connected properly.

Good luck..
