On a vanilla install of vista x64 I have a D-link DWA-556 NIC and the drivers install fine. I go to connect to my home network and it fails. I click diagnose and it answers with "connect to a wireless network" and when I click on that it loops me right back to my list of networks in range. This is a frustrating problem on a brand new clean install. Please help

Vista did work with this card already. I don't use D-Link software, just the drivers so WIndows Zero can manage my wireless. I would love to enter my password but can't get to that point. As I said it keeps looping from clicking on "connect" > popup says windows can't connect and gives the 2 options of diagnose or try a different network. Click on diagnose it says I have to connect to a network and loops me right back to the list of available networks. If I click on different network I loop back to the list of available networks.

Try using public network. Also go to network and sharing center.
Click on adaptor then properties. There you should be able to enter your information. Also in internet options connections be sure auto detect settings is checked.you may need to reboot when finished.Last, turn on network discovery in network sharing center.

Public or private network is chosen after you connect so that's not in play. I'm guessing that adapter properties "information" is for static ip's? I use DHCP for this system. Auto detect is default and network discovery doesn't work until you connect to a network. sigh....I made a new vlited copy and it worked out so I'm good but the error still bugs me.

I cannot install ethernet driver of hp compaq d530. Where can i find it?

Hello: I hope the following information is helpful.
If you are trying to install the driver for the Broadcom ethernet NIC that was pre-installed (NOT an ethernet card that you purchased and installed yourself), there is a softpack (updated driver installation) download available from HP/Compaq. It will install the driver automatically for you, just download it from the link below and run the ".exe" file.
IMPORTANT: Check to be sure that your current Operating System, and model of the network device you are trying to install, are BOTH listed below BEFORE you download!
This is a software / driver update for the HP Compaq d530 ultra-slim desktop: All Models
Supported network devices:
BCM5906M Broadcom 10/100/1000 5782 based NIC Broadcom 570x 10/100 Integrated controller Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet 5782 Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet PCI-Express NetXtreme(tm) 10/100/1000 Gb NIC

Download the file by clicking the "Download" or "Obtain Software" button and saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the downloaded file is saved). 2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.LINK where file can be downloaded:HP/Compaq Support-Broadcom Driver download
Again, I hope this information is what you neededto install your network device. Should this not answer your question, please come back, provide more details of your problem, and we will be happy to help!Best of luck to you!

Speed is g instead of n

The wireless access point or router you are connection to probably does not support n and you wireless card is backward compatable so it will still be able to connect to the wireless access point/router.

Network Adapter/Ethernet Controller

Nothing wrong with having two network adapters installed on your computer. If you have this DWA-552 wireless adapter installed as well as an onboard NIC, the correct thing to do is have both drivers installed so you see them both in your Control Panel->Network Connections window.

If you really want the onboard nic to go away, go into device manager and disable it - not uninstall it.
