Dryer runs for 3 to 4 minutes then and error message of E1 comes on. I have cleaned all the vents that I can find. I have tried spraying the filter screen with wrinkle free this works for a load or two...

Hi
E1 is a thermostat/thermal fuse failure error which means that the thermal fuse has gone bad and should be replaced. I believe that everything else is fine rather it is the the thermal fuse that is located inside the rear panel to the exhaust duct that is bad and should be replaced. If you want you can test this fuse for continuity and if bad replace it as it cannot be reset. If the fuse is fine then it can be due to the control board that is bad and should be replaced. Hope this helps...please post back with its model no for further assistance.

My Kenmore Elite HE3 gas dryer does not heat up? What do I do?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The first thing that should be checked is the Thermal fuse which is mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover. If this fuse goes bad the dryer will not heat and you’ll have to replace it as it cannot be repaired. If this is fine then you’ll need to check the thermostat, igniter and coils. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

My Kenmore Elite (Whirlpool) HE3 elctric dryer is no

A dryer not heating usually means that either the heating element is burned/broken (open circuit); a thermal fuse in line with the heating element is blown or; a thermostat is faulty.

Dryer needs to be partially disassembled to diagnose with a multimeter.

HE3 dryer stops drying with code E1

Hi, how are ya?

The E1 is a thermistor problem. It's a little black fuse that's next to the thermal fuse on the duct housing.

It's pretty easy to fix. You need to take the bottom pannel off and then the black blower housing.

Good luck :)

Thermal fuse keeps blowing

Mr. Larry (guru?)
The thermal fuse is just that It doesn't protect the circuit from over current although it certainly can open in that case. It is there to protect the board from overheating , thus the term thermal. The dishwasher could be allowing the water to heat too hot or the water heater in the home is turned up too much. The heater could also be shorted to case thus allowing it to be on even though the control is not calling for it especially if the polarity is incorrect to the dishwasher or the relay on the board could be welded closed so that the heater can't turn off even though the thermostat is satisfied. The best thing is to get a person who can check these things. You don't necessarily need to change the board with a fuse. I have changed many fuses with no other problems and verified that the machine was still working years later. sometimes the fuse just blows!
