Question about D-Link RangeBooster G WDA-2320 (1010075372) Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

Installed upside-down My roommate has one of these on her old Dell. It consistently gets LOW bars/reception compared to our laptops when we put them in the same place. I tried re-installing the drivers but it didn't help. (That might have been a dumb thing to do; I'm not sure). I was just looking here on the back of her machine though and it looks like the actual device (sans the antenna) was installed upside down! So, here's the question, could that have anything to do with it? If not, since my router is all the way across the house would it help if I put it up higher on a shelf? Please help!!! thanks!

I have the exact same problem, everything you said, exactly the same. i bought mine a week ago and its so frustrating since i thought it would get a real good signal. anyways the only thing is that I think its impossible to install it upside-down, and even if it was possible it wouldnt work at all. im 99% sure. but if you solve this issue let me know, or if anyone has any suggestions. im running it on vista 64bit, but i tried it on xp 32bit, and same problem. :(

Same issue here. I installed it correctly into the desktop, but it barely works. Signal strength is very poor, yet with my laptop at the same location I get excellent signal strength and can browse no problems. Run a speedtest and the desktop that this card is installed in gets about 1/2 the speed as my laptop does.

Overall, I think this is just a poor card.

What is a teredo tunneling pseudo interface because my one isnt working? Also, the sound isnt working, and neither is itunes, youtube etc. is this related?

They are all related, have you recently re-installed windows or un-installed some software?
It sounds to me like you need to download the drivers for your laptop form the OEM by visiting the website of your laptops manufacturer. Once there, type into the search bar, "download *laptop name and model* drivers" replacing the laptop name and model with your laptops name and model.
Once the results are displayed, just select the drivers that aren't installed on your laptop. (you can find these by pressing the windows flag key + pause/break at the same time and selecting hardware tab>device manager and anything in that windows with a yellow triangle with an exclamation in it, need to be re-installed.)
Once you have downloaded the drivers and installed them, try connecting again and this should help!
Hope it helped you :D

Questions about replacing ethernet card on my Dell desktop

Any ethernet card will work fine. Just be sure it's the fit's the correct slot. You probably have a "white" slot which is a pci slot. If it's a longer "black" slot then it's isa. More than likely it came from a pci slot. Before you buy one, confirm the type of slot. In additon, before installing it go to control panel and system settings, hardware, device manager and remove the old one by right clicking it and select delete or remove. Shut down the computer follow instructions for new card.
Probably will have to install the drivers first then shut down and install the new card. Good Luck.

Wireless USB network adapter for idiots?

To bad I didn't see this several months ago as I would have recommended my favorite, the D-link DWA-130. It is much superior to the Linksys and NetGear comparable units and much cheaper too. You might ask how you can get superior quality and price. Let's just say I have been using the DWA-130 for almost a year now here in Korea with it stuck out on a pole in summer time, winter time, and rain time i.e. with a plastic bag taped around it, and it consistently gives great speeds and connections compared to another unit I also have which is the Linksys WUSB600N. Very poor quality unit I must say. The signal strength of the Dlink unit is almost twice as great as the Linksys unit and the driver is much more configurable then is the LInksys unit.
