Question about Epson Printer

1 Answer

I cant print on cds

Hey folks,
I have an Epson RX560 and it prints normally on paper fine, but suddenly when I try to print on CD, it looks like its going to work and then on my computer it says the tray is set to the wrong setting to print on paper. Well of course it is, because don't want to print on paper, I want to print CDs instead.
Has anyone encountered this problem before and if so how do I fix it?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot! Clare :-)

hehehe...what do you mean?! Im putting the cd in the cd printing tray like I have done probably 2000 times before, you push the tray in, until the triangle thing lines up, I have printed soooooooo many cds already with this, Im doing it in EXACTLY the same way only for some random reason my computer now thinks i want to print on paper even though all my settings say CD. any ideas? :-)

    Hey Robert,
Thanks a lot for taking the time to help me here! :-) Yes, it DOES seem like its reverted, but as I set the settings (!) I have put them all back, that I can think of. Yes, I print from the Epson Print CD program, I have a preset called CD that I set ages ago, the only thing I can think of thats messed it up is that I was just in San Francisco at a friends house and I plugged in her printer, not a cd printer but a totally different one, and I installed the driver so I could use it just to print on paper. My laptop decided after that, that THAT printer was its default one, even though its not connected any more. Obviously I've been in, and Ive even gone into the Apple Preferences thing and deleted the whole printer altogether. But the settings for the RX560 are how they've always been.

Do you know if there's any way to reset the printer or something?? When I switch the tray mode around on the printer, the screen comes up so it knows its in CD printing mode. Yet then when I print, the laptop doesn't know and tells me that im using the wong type of format to print on paper. DOH!. Its sooooo annoying and it must be something simple ....

    Any ideas??! :-)
Thanks a lot for your time!

yeah that was amusing but it's amazing what i've seen people do so i just could not help myself but to ask. Ok you mentioned the settings say cd. so i presume you are printing from the epson program. a couple options i can see..... go into the program and just look at the settings to see if something seems out of place (you aren't a rookie at using that program). the other idea would be to remove the tray (if it is made to be removed) and check for any dirt or things that should not be there.

at first blush it sounds like the program has reverted to the default settings.

guess i didn't notice you had a mac... if i read that right.... is there a way to confirm that the printer you are trying to use is in fact the default printer.... at this stage from what you have said.... you will need to reinstall the printer software again. then go in and fix the settings.

I'll be away from the computer for about an hour (heck i'm a volunteer i can do that). please do let me know if that fixes it. if not i'll do some research on it. the other reason i suspect software is that as it appears you are saying the printer does recognize it... but perhaps the software was corrupted by the other printer install.

    Robert

P.S. feel free to send me a mac so i can learn on it too lol...

My Rx560 jams when i send a document from the lapop via usb. It prints fine if i photocopy something so its cant be a paper jams. I ge no error code it jus says turn the printer off.

If it jams only when you print from your computer it is most certainly related to the print driver. Try updating it from the manufacturers website or reinstalling it. Also make sure that you are testing it with a simple test. Don't print from a web page, use either a simple test page first or a graphic. If these print and it is just a web page that won't print, this represents a different symptom and a different set of trouble shooting.

Epson stylus r1800 problem with printing on cd/dvd

Try this :

Disconnect the printer from the computer.
Turn it off & make sure the CD/DVD tray is closed then turn it back on.

***

Here's generic instruction for you:

If you are receiving an error pertaining to the CD TRAY NOT BEING INSERTED CORRECTLY, please do the following:

Recommendations:
-Don't force the CD/DVD tray into the printer.
-Make sure your printer is powered on, and the output tray is in the upper position.
-Please ensure there is at least 3 inches of space behind the printer, or the CD tray may eject.

Included, are the correct CD/DVD loading instructions. Please follow the instructions below:

CD/DVD LOADING:
1. Ensure the printer is powered on. Remove any paper from the sheet feeder.
2. Push in the paper support extension on the printer, and close the paper support.
3. Push in the output tray extensions, but leave the tray open.
4. Lift the output tray. Place one hand on the top of the printer, and pull up on the output tray until it stops. Lay the tray down in the upper position.
5. Place the CD or DVD into the CD TRAY with the white (or printable) side facing up. Note: To print on small 8cm CDs, please place the small CD ring on the tray first, then place the CD inside the ring.
6. Slide the tray into the tray guides located in the output tray. Push in the guide until the arrow on the tray matches up to the arrow on the tray guide.
7. Press the PAPER button to load the CD/DVD into the printing position. The CD is correctly loaded when the printer's POWER button stops flashing.

General tips for CD and DVD printing:
-Burn data/video/images onto CDs or DVDs before attempting to print on them.
-Do not use thermal-printable or regular CDs or DVDs in the printer.
-Moisture or fingerprints on the printable surface of the CD may cause marks or smearing to appear after printing.
-All printable inkjet media is different. Some surfaces will absorb ink better than others. If output appears banded, faded, or streaky, print a Nozzle Check pattern to confirm that all colors of ink are printing completely. If the ink does not completely dry or smears after 24 hours curing time, you may need to use the Epson Print CD tools to adjust (lower) the print density.
-The only supported resolution for CD/DVD printing is 1440 dpi (aka "Photo")
-Borderless printing and printing on the "inner circle" (plastic around central hole) of CDs is not supported.
-Do not use the "print preview" feature provided by the Epson printer driver as it will only show the image on a blank field and does not offer a clear indicator of where the image will print.
-The Epson Print CD software works best with JPG images and may not import some TIFF images.
